Coldmann Names Shazar
Jewish Agency Chairman

JERUSALEM, (JTA) — Dr.
Nahum Goldmann, chairman of
the Jewish Agency executive,
named Zalman Shazar acting
Agency chairman for the time
Dr. Goldmann is out of Israel
on a visit to Europe. Dr. Gold-
mann expects to return in
August.
The executive decided to con-
vene the full Zionist Actions
Committee in Jerusalem next
December. At that time, the
Agency will commemorate the
100th birthday of the late Jus-
tice Louis D. Brandeis. Settle-
ments will be named for Rabbi
Judah L. Maimon, on the occa-
sion of his 80th birthday, and
for the late Dr. Arthur Hantke,
one - time world head of the
Keren Hayesod, the Agency's
fund-raising arm.
