Women's Council.
The United Order of True
Sisters won its award for spon-
soring a project "to provide
Detroit with the finest radio-
isotope laboratory" for use of
cancer patients, "regardless of
race, color or creed, with or
without funds."
The 119 members of the
group donated $1,000 to the
Detroit Memorial Hospital to
set up the laboratory and an-
other $2,500 to expand the la-
boratory, as well as pledging
that a minimum of an addi-
tional $2,500 more would be
donated by 1959. Mrs. Alan
Colman, philanthropic chair-
man, reported that a special
fund-raising project was set- ;
up and donations received to
finance - the project.
The Northwest Child Rescue
Women, the only second year
winner of a total of nine
groups, won the award for pro-
viding summer camp privileges
for 150 mentally retarded chil-
dren.
They also are underwriting
the costs of bus tranportation
and lunches for retarded chil- ,
dren, called "World Tours "
in co-operation with the De-
partment of Parks and Rec-
reation and the Detroit Asso-
ciation for Retarded Children.

Diskin—Lefkofsky
Rites Set for OCt. 27

Stanley (Larry) EiseRberg;,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Eisen-
berg, of 3224 Glendale, was
selected as Hillsdale College's
Ambassador of Goodwill to
Yugoslavia,- by the executive
committee of the Ambassador
Plan,. sponsored by the Experi-
ment in International Living,
at Putney, Vt.
Eisenberg will leave on June
27 for a 10-week, all-expense-
paid trip abroad to spread the
,A.rnrican way of life. He is a
22-year-old Navy veteran, who
graduated from Central High
School and is currently a
sophomore, majoring in human
relations at Hillsdale.
Eisenberg's Hillsdale activities
include membership in the In-.
ternational Relations Club, Epsi-
lon -= Delta Alpha, honorary
scholastic society, Tower Play-
ers and the publication board.

Shaarey Zedek. Couples Choose Hubert Sidlow

Hubert J. Sidlow was re-
cently re-elected president of
the Cong. Shaarey Zedek Young
Married League at the organi-
zation's annual meeting.
Elected to serve with . him are
S. Lawrence. Aronsson, vice-
president; Eli Benstein, treasur-
er; and Mrs. Robert Siegel, sec-
retary.
Couples elected to serve on
the board are Messrs. and Mes-
dames Leonard Baron, Daniel
Braude, Murray Frumin, Theo-
dore Rudner, Bernard Weisberg
and Harvey Weisberg.
Ex-officio board members are
William Yolles, past president,
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Cooper and
Rabbi Milton Arm. Honorary
board members are Rabbi Mor-
ris Adler and Hy Safran, con-
gregation president.

Diskin, daughter of Mrs. Bess
Diskin, of Webb Ave., and the
late Mr. Morris Diskin, to Her-
bert Lefofsky, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Samuel Lefkofsky, of Ard-
more Ave., was recently an-
nounced.
Mr. Lefkofsky is a graduate
of Wayne University where he
majored in sociology. Miss Dis-
kin is a Wayne senior, in the
school of occupational therapy.
The wedding date has been
set for Oct- 27.

Women will hold its annual all-
; day planning conference start-
; ing at 10 a.m., Tuesday, at the
I Labor Zionist Center, 19161

All chairmen will give re-
ports and recommendations
in the morning when the exe-
cutive department, under Mrs.
Nettie Turner, and the organ-
ization department, under Mrs.
