Mr. and Mrs. Abe Bookstein, of 2745 Cortland, will hold
open house from 8 to 11 p.M., June 16, to honor their daughter,
Rita, on her graduation from the Wayne University college of
education. No cards.
Out-of-town guests here last weekend to attend the Bar
Mitzvah and dinner-reception for J. Howard Nudell, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Hyman D. Nude11, of 14220 Pembroke, were Mrs. Jack
Stern and son, Richard, of Beverly__ Hills, Calif.; Dr. and Mrs.
Sam Sorscher, of Flint, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Philip Schwartz,
of Lansing, Mich.; Mr. Al Blackman and Mr. Morris Kaufman,
of Long Island, N. Y.
Mrs. Shirley Sorscher, of 3021 Tuxedo, is playing host to
Mrs. Jack Stern (Lottie Kroll, of Detroit) and her son, Richard,
of Beverly Hills, Calif.
Mr. and Mrs. David Haberman, of Cortland Ave., were
guests of honor on their 25th wedding anniversary at a party
given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Sage, of Marlowe
Ave., by the Tuesday Night Ladies Group. Attending were
Messrs. and Mesdames Ben Schachet, David Goldsmith, Sidney
Margolis, Sidney Martin, Jasper Goodman, Ben Wilson, Louis
Jaslove and Al Moore.
Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Weingarten, of 18106 Cherrylawn, will
hold open house from 4 to 8 p.m., June 17, in honor of the grad-
uation of ther son, Dr. Charles Jay Wejngarten. No cards.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Katz, of Fullerton Ave.., announce the
graduation of their son, Arnold M. Katz, from the Detroit Insti-
tute of Technology's college of pharmacy.
Nine delegates from the Detroit Chapter, National Women's
Committee of Brandeis University, will attend the eighth annual
conference on the Brandeis campus in Waltham, Mass., June 8
to 13. The women will witness the fourth annual" graduation
exercises and ground-breaking for the new library. Heading
the local delegation is Mrs. Leo Mellen, president of the Detroit
Chapter and a national board member. Others are Mesdames
Murray Altman, Leo Brodfnan, Robert Grosman, H. C. Lersin,
Malcolm Lowenstein, Gilbert Silverman, M. T. Rotenberg and
Oscar M. Zemon, honorary president and founder of the local
chapter.
Mr. and Mrs. Irving I. Katz, of Santa Rosa Drive, announce
the graduation of their daughter, Nina Claire, from the School
of Education of the University of Michigan, on June 16. Miss
Katz is secretary of the senior class, secretary of the Council of
the School of Education and a charter member and former officer
of Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority.

Marriages
BIRNKRANT-BIRNKRANT.
In a ceremony on May 30, Nor-
man Howard Birnkrant, Detroit
attorney and Consul here of the
Republic of 4ustria, Was united_
in marriage to Phyllis Z. Birn-
krant, the widow of his late
brother; Mark H. Birnkrant.
The ceremony was performed
by Dr. Richard C. Hertz at his
home on Parkside Rd. Follow-
ing the ceremony, a dinner was
held for the immediate families
at the home of Mr. Birnkrant's
brother and sister-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Samuel Birnkrant, of
1590 W. 7 Mile.
The bridegroom's brother was
his best man, and Mrs. Herbert
Golman, the bride's sister, came
here from Phoenix, Ariz., to be
matron of honor.
The newlywed couple will
leave from New York aboard
the SS Liberte on June 16 for
an extended honeymoon through
Europe, which will include
France, England, German y,
Italy, Switzerland, Belgium and,
of course, Austria.
While in Salzburg, the Birn-
krants will attend the summer
music festival, operas of the
newly-opened Vienna State
Opera House and will be enter-
tained at many diplomatic func-
tions being held in celebration
of the first anniversary of com-
plete Austrian freedom since.
World War II.
Consul Birnkrant has been
commissioned by Austrian Am-
bassador Dr. Karl Gruber, of
Washington, D. C., to deliver
several talks in Austria on inter-
national trade, law and rela-
tions.
Mr. and Mrs. Birnkrant will
return to Detroit in the fall, and
will make their home at 1525
Balmoral Dr., in Palmer Woods.

studies toward a master's degree

Miss Ginsberg will graduate
this Month among the top five
per cent of her class, and will
receive a bachelor of science
degree. She is the recipient of a
speech honor award, and is a
member of Pi Lambda Theta,
national honor society.

Workmen's Circle Holds
Graduation Ceremonies
The annual graduation of the
Workmen's Circle School will
be held at 8:30 p.m., Friday,
June 15, in the school audito-
rium, 11529 Linwood, This
year's graduates are Grace Ben-
nish, Bernard Ceifetz, Barry
Cohen, Eileen Cousens and
Polly Teach, all whom have
completed five years of Jewish
studies.
The program will feature
guest artists Isadore Saslov,
violinist, who will perform the
Bal Shem Suite by Bloch, ac-
companied by Ann Patricia
LOefler, and Shoshana Fried-
man, who will sing Yiddish and
Hebrew songs.
Bernard Broder will preside
over the program and Saul
Maltz, school principal, will
speak on the "Value of Jewish
Education." A reception will
follow-the graduation ceremony.
