The Art 'Club, Broadcasters
Guild, and • Student Council
started last night and will con-
tinue tonight to take many
Mumford students, parents, and
friends on a royal tour of New
York through the variety show,
this year called "Manhattan
Tour". Many students and fac-
ulty have worked long to make
this show the huge success it
is. Tickets may be purchased at
the door. The money will go
toward our foreign exchange
student plan and toward the
new grand piano that the -Par-
ents' Club has' donated to the
school.
The Student Council elected
the following officers and grade
representatives: President, Nan
Scholnick; vice-president, Alan
Croll; treasurer, Barry Samuels;
secretaries, Sandy Schrutt and
Carol Lewis•; board members,
Howard Shapiro and Stuart

After first capturing the West
Side Tennis title, Alan Croll,
Ray Jacobs and Larry Mendle-
sohn-Sandford Provin (doubles)
went on to play in the metro
tennis finals. Alan emerged vic-
torious with a score of 5-7, 6-4,
6-4, while the other boys
dropped the matches.
The student-faculty baseball
game was played June 7. Jay
Hamburg and Sandy Littky
were in charge of the event.
This year's senior prom
`Moonlight Serenade" will be
given June 23. at Lovett Hall.
Tickets are $2.50 and the dance
is open to the entire school.
'Marlene Danto and Jerry Starr
are co-chairmen of the. affair.

line for all entries in the Anne
Miller Goldstein Creative Writ-
ing Awards Contest, open to
all seniors interested in sub-
mitting a piece of creative
writing. The categories in-
cluded poetry, short story and
essay. The winner of the con-
test will receive a $50 savings
bond and will be announced at
Class Day, June 1.9.

Yesterday afternoon more
than 125 seniorS left on/ the
semi-annual trip to Washing-
ton. They expected to take in
many sights,. among them the
Washington Monument a n d
Lincoln Memorial. The group
traveling 12-A's will return
home to Detroit early Sunday
morning to rest up for their
last four days of school before
graduation.

honor guards for the gradua-
tion class. Commencement will
take place on June 20.

Omena Inn Signs
Children's Counselors

Nathan Isaac and Evelyn Gur-
vitch have been signed as chil-
dren's counselors for the Omena
Inn summer season which opens
on June 22, it was announced
by the Landis family, owners of
the northern Michigan resort.
Both counselors have wide ex-
perience in dealing with chil-
dren in summer camps, Isaac in
New York State and at Sagi-
naw, Mich., and Miss Gurvitch
in camps operated by the De-
troit Jewish Center
At Omena, the children, play,
are entertained and eat to-
gether; the latter in their own
separate dining room, leaving
parents free to participate in
planned adult activities, the
Landis' said.
A fully-equipped playground,
handicraft shop, special danc-
ing and swimming instruction,
water sports and trips are
planned. The youngsters also
put on their own plays and art
exhibits.

Harold Herman, fresh from a season in New York directing
Off-Broadway Shows, is back Again to direct summer enter-
