BOSTON (JTA) — Dr. Ino
Sciaky, dean of the dental
school of Hebrew University in
Jerusalem, is now in the United
States, attending a postgraduate
course at Beth Israel Hospital
here.
Dr. Sciaky, his wife, and two
children will be in this country
for six months-, under a fellow-
ship granted by Hadassah,
which, with the dental frater-
nity, Alpha Omega, set up the
dental school hi Israel.
Pointing out that, although
there are now about a thousand
practicing dentists in Israel,
their average age is 56, Dr.
Sciaky noted that the training
of new dentists is imperative.
About 18 to 20 new dentists are
now trained every year.
Jewish Causes Get $40,000
From Cuban Philanthropist -
HAVANA, Cuba (JTA)—The
sum'of $40,000 was donated here
by Adolf H. Kates, noted Jew-
ish leader and philanthropist,
to various Jewish causes at a
banquet arranged in honor of
his 70th birthday by the 'Jewish
Community Center. Part of the
gift will go for local Jewish or-
ganizations and institutions in
Cuba, while substantial contri-
butions will go to institutions
In Israel, as well as for the
Joint Distribution Committee
and the Unitied Hias Service.
Mr. Kates also announced a $500
prize which will be awarded
annually for the best article on
Jews in the Cuban press.

Acheson to Address
Brandeis Graduates

Acheson, Secretary of State

deliver the commencement ad-

versity, June 10.

NEW YORK — A letter from
Dr. Itrhak Ben-Zvi, president of
Israel, expressing appreciation
for documents supplied him by
the Jewish Information Bureau
here, was read at the meeting
of the board of directors of the
Bureau.
The documents relate to 1914-
1917, when Dr. Ben-Zvi resided
here as an exile from Turkish
rule in Palestine and labored
for the Zionist ideal. These
documents, including articles
written for a New York week-
ly newspaper, "are very dear
to me" said the letter.
Dr. Ben-Zvi had made a re-
quest for this material when he
received the Director of the
Bureau, Bernard G. Richards,
during his recent trip to Israel.
Bernard. G. Richards, one of
the founders of the Bureau was
for the 25th consecutive year
elected chairman of the board.
Reuben Fink and Mitchell Lev-
enthal were chosen vice chair-
men, Samuel Zuckerberg was
elected treasurer and Herman
W. Bernstein, secretary.
The meeting was addressed
'by Dr.- Joshua Bloch, recently-
retired Chief of the Jewish Di-
vision of the New York Public
Library who is a member of the
advisory council of the Bureau.

1955 Stoliar literary prizes for
the two best books of the year
were awarded here to Baruch
Hager for his "Malchut Hassi-
dut" and Beirish Weinstein for
his "America."
The awards were established
to commemorate the name of
Mordecai Stoliar, late founder
and editor of the Yiddishe Zei-
tung, largest Jewish daily news-
paper in Latin America.
