After a week of campaigns
and rallies, final elections were
held last Tuesday for Student
Council officers and senators.
The voting took place in the
third and ninth hour record
rooms.
Candidates running for offices
were Sharon Bez and Carol
Lewis, secretary of the house;
Steve Gorelick and Barry Sam-
uels, treasurer; Sandy Schrut
unopposed for secretary of the
Senate; Alan Croll and Janet
Bing, vice-president; and Nan
Scholnick, unopposed for the
presidency. Stuart Handler and
Howard Shapiro were recently
elected to the board for next
term.

- This year's variety show will
be presented next Thursday and
Friday nights, 8 p.m. in the
auditorium. The title of the
show is "Manhattan Tour."
Coming to us by the combined
efforts of the Broadcasters Club,
the Art Club and the Student
Council, the show promises to
offer entertainment for all
tastes. Profits go to the parents
club for a piano that they have
purchased for the school.

Detroiter Jack Kirsch is the
only U of M student to be
awarded a $3,500 Rockefeller
Institute fellowship. Upon grad-
uation this June, Jack, a physics
major, will do a year's research
in physiology and biochemistry
in New York, and spend the
next two years in Europe.
