Veterans, Department of Michi-
gan, and Mrs. Jack Schwartz
was voted into office as presi-
dent of the Department Auxili-
ary at the 14th annual state
convention held last weekend in
Detroit.

Cancer Fighters Fete

City of Hope Cancer Fighters
has invited, 118 key workers
to a victory brunch at 12:30
p.m.; Monday, at Sammy's Res-
taurant, Oak Park.
Mrs. Andrew Berger, fund-
raising vice-president, will re-
late how $35,000 has been raised -
by , the organization since last
SW-ember and forwarded to
the Duarte, Calif., medical cen-
ter.
Mrs. Stanley Oschin, presi-
dent, has named Mrs. Max Levy
s bruncheon chairman. She
will introduce Dr. Howard R.
Bierman, director - of the hos-
pital for tumors and allied dis-
eases at the City of Hope.
Together with Dr. Leo RigIer,
of the University of Minnesota
and a City of Hope Staff mem-
ber, Dr. Bierman is here to at-
tend a cancer symposium.

State of Michigan.
Long active in affairs of JWV,
he also has served as a delegate
to the Allied Veterans Council
of Wayne County. He succeeds
Jack Kraizman in office.

A -highlight of the convention
was the presentation of JWV's
Americanism Award to Rev.
Richard S. Emrich, bishop of
the Episcopal Diocese of Michi-
gan.
The award was presented by
BoriS M. Joffe, executive direc-
tor of the Jewish Community
Council,- and was accepted for
Rev. Emrich by the Rev. Wil-
liam B. Sperry, rector of Christ
Episcopal Church.'
Addresses were delivered -- by
Gov. G. Mennen Williams and
Joseph F. Barr, a past national
commander of JWV.

Federation Women
to 'Say It With Flowers'

"Say It with Flowers" will
be the theme of the 10th an-
nual meeting of the Women's
Division, Jewish Welfare Fed-
eration at 12 noon, Tuesday,
at Franklin Hills Country Club.
The Women's Division board
and officers for the coming
year will be elected; final Cam-
paign reports will be presented
and there_ will be lunch and
entertainment.
