A

three- day celebration,
climaxed by prizes' of $2,000 in
free gifts, is now being held by
Ben Pupko's, which opened its
new store yesterday, at 19329
Livernois, a block north of 7
Mile.
For the past 18 years, Ben
Pupko's was located on Dexter
and Burlingame, and specialized
in curtains, draperies, bed-
spreads and general household
linens. These and new items
will be displayed in the new
location.
The Livernois store is decor-
ated in graduating tones of
pink, reflecting the ultimate in
decorator's art as created by
Mrs. Ben Pupko, owner and
manager.
The completely open interior
for unobstructed visibility lends
spaciousness and facilitates easy
shopping. The decor is further
enhanced by wrought iron fix-
tures and chandeliers in har-
monizing pink, with carpeting
of sharply-contrasting b l a c k
and white tweed.

• Porocheth

"Porocheth" is the name giv-
en to the velvet curtain that
hangs over the ark. The word
is taken directly from the Bi-
ble where it is written that a
veil should be hung, separating
the holy place from the most
holy, in the Temple. This cur-
tain thus divides the most holy
location in the synagogue (the
ark where the Torahs are
kept) from the rest of the syn-
agogue.

The annual luncheon and in-
stallation of officers ceremony
