3 Bar Associations to Honor
Judge Simons 80th Birthday
Three Bar Associations —
Michigan Patent Law Associa-
tion, State Bar of Michigan and
Detroit Bar Association—have
combined to honor Chief Judge
Charles C. Simons, of the United
States Circuit Court of Appeals,
at a dinner party, Monday, May
21, on the occasion of the dis-
tinguished jurist's 80th birth-
day.
Alfred E. Wilson heads the
committee of arrangements for
the dinner, to be held at the
Veterans Memorial Building.
Serving on the committee with
him are Judges Frank A. Picard
and Theodore Levin, Louis E.
Dahling, James E. Haggerty,
Sidney A. Ochs, Clifford L. Sad-
ner, William L. Scherer and
John V. Sobesky.

Nationally-known child psy-
chiatrist Dr. Ralph D. Rabin-
ovitch will be the principal
speaker at the annual meeting
of the Jewish Social Service
Bureau and Resettlement Serv-

ing Aug. 20.

Burdick
last week-end.
Mr. Burdick was a Republican
National Convention delegate
in_ 1948. For 12 years Chief
Public Administrator, he has
held other important posts in
Michigan. He was a member of
the first Wayne University law
school graduating class, and has
practiced law here since 1928:
He was first president of the
Wayne University Law Alumni
and is now serving on its board
of governors.
Active in Allied Jewish Cam-
paigns and on the community
relations committee of the Jew-
ish Community Council, Mr.
Burdick also is associated with
a number of other local move-
ments. He is a member of the
Zionist Organization, American
Pristciple speaker at the
dinner will be Judge John J.
Parker, of Charlotte, N. C.,
Chief Judge of the Fourth
U. S. Circuit Court of Appeals,
U., S. Appeals Court Judge
John D. Martin, Sr., of Mem-
phis, Tenn., will speak on be-
half of Judge Simons' associ-
ates. ,
While attendance will be lim-
ited, friends of Judge Simons
are being given - an opportunity
to make reservations through

Tonight, the Detroit Bar As-
sociation will honor Judge Sim-
ons and former Justice Henry
M. Butzel, who will celebrate
his 85th birthday the end of this
month.

Incorporated Round Table Adopts
Code Setting Forth. Its Purposes
At last week's meeting of the
Detroit Round Table, at which
the organization .decided to in-
corporate,- the following set of
rules, describing its aims and
purposes, was ratified:
"The name of this organiza-
tion shall be the Detroit Round
Table of Catholics, Jews and
Protestants. It is a chapter ,of
the National Conference of
Christians and Jews, Inc.
"The purpose of this organi-
zation is to promote justice,
amity, understanding and co-
operation among Protestants,
Catholics and Jews in Detroit
and the surrounding territory.
Mrs. Norman Rom New
Hadassah President
Mrs. Norman Rom was in-
stalled as the new president
of Detroit Chapter of Hadas-
sah, succeeding Mrs. William
B. Isenberg, at Hadassah's
annual meeting, at the
Shaarey Zedek, Tuesday. .
The new officers were in-
stalled by Mrs. Theodore
Bergman. Mrs. Isenberg pre-
sented her annual report.
Mrs. Carl Schiller was chair-
man of the nominating com-
mittee.
The program, featuring a
sketch, "Hadassah Head-
aches," was introduced by
Mrs. Leo Orecklin. The play
was directed by Mrs. David
Holtzman. Mrs. Baer Keidan
was the narrator and Mrs.
Ben Tolmich the accom-
panist.
This organization shall adhere
to the statement of purpose of
the National Conference of
Christians and Jews.
"This organization shall be the
only local agency representing
the National Conference of
Christians and Jews. It will ad-
here to the - policy of the Na-
tional Conference of Christians
and Jews and will receive any
and all benefits resulting from
the association with that na-
tional organization.
"This organization shall 'seek
to accomplish its purpose by
educational methods. It shall
function as a civic organization
of religiously motivated indi-
viduals and shall not engage in
or advocate common worship or
compromise nor endeavor to
change any theological position
or any aspect of religious faith,
nor engage in any political ac-
tivity."

on the multiple calls from the
community for its services, was
submitted at the meeting by the

tue of the University of Mich-
igan, Dr. Rabinovitch is a grad-
uate in arts and medicine from
McGill University, Montreal,
Canada. He served four years
in the Canadian Army as a psy-
chiatrist before coming to Mich-
igan in 1949.
Dr. RabinovitCh is the author
of research studies on childhood
schizophrenia, juvenile delin-
qu e n c y, educational retarda-
tions and disabilities, residential
treatment for severely disturbed
children and psychiatric factors
in foster home placement and
'adoption.
Mrs. Bernard Osnos, chairman
of the annual meeting commit-
.tee, will preside. Annual reports
will be given by Mrs. Theodore
Bergman, JSSB president, and
David Rosin, president of Re-
settlement Service.
Harold Silver, executive di-
rector of JSSB, will conduct a
discussion period following Dr.
Rabinovitch's talk. A social hour
will conclude the meeting, to
which the public is invited.

dek, United Hebrew Schools,
Bnai Brith. He is a Shriner.
Mr. and Mrs. Burdick reside
at 19515 Roslyn. They have two
children, Andrea and James.
The Michigan delegation to
the Republican Convention also
will include C. Ralph Kohn, of
