Dr. Portnoy, after reviewing the accomplishments of Young Israel during its past history, will announce a new plan to establish a Young Israel Youth Center in a new suburban de- velopment. Arrangements are presently' being made to make the land available 'within walking dis- tance of the projected center which will serve 150 families. In the past, Dr. Portnoy said, Young Israel would move from one area of dense Jewish popu- lation to another newer area. This new concept would estab- • ish a neighborhood based on the location of a center. Among traditional elements of the local community, the idea of living in the suburbs and still being within walking distance of a synagogue shoud 'be espe- cially attractive, Dr. Portnoy stated. The site of the suburban de- velopment has not yet been re- vealed. The banquet ticket committee is headed by Arthur Selmar and Lou Penfil, who are assisted by Shimon and Linda Berris, David and Fayga Greenbaum, Risha G. Cohen and Irving Port- noy, ushers. Mrs. David J. Cohen, anniver- sary hostess chairman, will, be assisted by Mrs. Joseph Gross- man and Mrs. Shirley Portnoy. For information on the new suburban program, call the Young Israel office, TE 4-4145.
