STOCKHOLM, (JTA) — The
Swedish government published
a White Paper crediting the ef-
forts of the late Count Folke
Bernadotte with having saved
19,000 persons, many of them
Jews, from death in Nazi camps.
Acting on instructions from the
Swedish Foreign Office, Berna-
dotte negotiated with Hitler's
Gestapo chief Heinrich Himmler
to secure the transfer to Sweden
or Danish, Norwegian and other
civilian prisoners, the White
Paper said.
The document was issued in
reply to published statements
by H. R. Trevor-Roper, a Brit-
ish writer on World War II, that
credit for the success of the
negotiations should not go to
Bernadotte and the Swedish
Foreign Office but to Felix Ker-
sten, Himmier's personal mas-
seru. Mr. Trevor-Roper charged
that Bernadotte had written a
letter to Himmler early in 1945
in which he said that "the Jews

Progressives Get Only
Three Congress Seats

-
JERUSALEM — The World
Zionist Congress Court, after
four days of deliberations, allo-
cated to the American Progres-
sive Group only three mandates
to the Congress, instead of the
13 demanded by them.
Commenting on the ruling of
the Congress Court, the ZOA
delegation issued the following
statement:
"In the United States we were
prepared to allocate to the dis-
sident group five or six 'Maces
on the official ZOA list of dele-
gates. Here they have been
awarded three places after the
Court had found that the elec-
tions conducted by all the
American Zionist organizations
and parties through the Central
Election Board were in accord-
ance with the rules and legally
valid." •
The distribution of U.S. dele-
gates, on the basis of a united
slate from all Zionist parties
in the U.S. approved by the
U.S. Central Shekel and Elec-
tion Board, was as follows: ZOA,
34; Hadassah, 34; Labor Zionist
Bloc, 24; Mizrachi, 12; Hapoel
