75th 'Birthday Sunday
The 75th birthday of Isadore
Podolsky, of the Lee Plaza Ho-
tel, will be marked quietly
Sunday with a family dinner, at
which he will be honored with
a certificate for 75 trees planted
in Israel in his honor through
the Jewish National Fund.
Helping to celebrate will be
his children Seymour, Harold
and Mrs. Irving Posner and his
four - grandchildren.
In addition to his own family,
Mr. Podolsky and his late wife,
Rebecca, raised his nephews,
Herbert, Ruben and Sidney
Shell, who became dependent
upon them in early childhood.
The Podolsky's were among
the founders of Cong. Beth El,
in Wyandotte. Mr. Podolsky
also is a member of Downriver
Chapter, Bnai Brith, and the
Foods Division of the Allied
Jewish Campaign.
He is still 'active in business,
and for the last 3'7 'years .has
Managed the Beverage Distrib-
ution Co., in Wyandotte. He also
is kept busy in Wyandotte civic
affairs.

Mrs. Lewis B. Daniels, pres-
ident of the Women's Division,
Jewish Welfare Federation, an-
nounces that a nominating com-
mittee under chairmanship of
Mrs. Abraham Cooper has pro-
posed a slate of officers and
board members to be elected
at the annual meeting, Tuesday,
June 5, at Franklin Hills Coun-
try Club.
Mrs. Daniels was nominated
for a second term as president.
Vice-presidential nominees are
Mesdames Eugene J. Arnfeld,
Harry August, I. Jerome Haus-
er and Philip R. Marcuse.
Mrs. Herbert S. Frank was
chosen for recording secretary,
and Mrs. Ben Jones as corres-
ponding kecretary.
Nominated for additional
three year terms on the board
of directors were Mesdames
Maurice Cfamage, Lewis B.
Daniels, Arthur I. Gould, Wm.
B. Isenberg, Maxwell E. Katzen,
Charles Lakoff, Philip R. Mar-
cuse, Harold A. Robinson, Mil-
ton L. Sorock and S. S. Willis.
Nominees for a three year
term are Mesdames Harry Aug-
ust, Theodore Bargman, Max
Fisher, Ivor J. Kahn, Herschel
V. Kreger and Alexander W.
Sanders.
Mrs. Nathan Kaplan and Mrs.
Leo Orecklin are nominees for
two year terms.

move their divisions toward their 1956 Allied Jewish Campaign

The real estate and building
council won the right to preside
at the final report meeting of
the 1956 Allied Jewish Cam-
paign - by reporting 96 per cent
coverage Friday, topping the
second place arts and crafts di-
vision by three per cent.
In third place with 92 per
cent was the mechanical trades
division.
Real estate council chairman,
Abe Green, presided at the re-
port meeting.
Jack 0. Lefton, co-chairman
of the mechanical trades di-
vision reported $1,076,456 col-
lected for 92 per cent of his
division quota.
Arthur Howard, reporting for
the real estate council, estab-
lished the council's right to the
chair by reporting'$1,052,232 for
96 per cent of the council quota.

several loCal delegates. Mrs. Dan

reached 93 per cent of its $211,-
000 quota with $195,694.
Joseph Holtzman, a ;United
Jewish Appeal national chair-
man and a member of the real
estate council, principal speaker
at the meeting, said that easing
tensions in the Middle East does
not mean that we can decrease,
one iota, our aid to Israel.
It is entirely possible that the
Russians and the Arabs have
deliberately eased tensions to
put us off guard, said Holtzman.
