It's Israel's 8th Independence Day—
and Mom's making a night of it.
She's standing guard on the settle-
ment watchtower.

In hiS hands are late model Com-
munist arms --- swift jet bombers,
sleek fighters and heavy tanks —
weapons for attack.

Put yourself in Mom's place-. It's
not much of a way to celebrate your
country's birth of freedom.

But on Israel's frontier there's no
half price for Liberty. You still pay
in full in eternal vigilance, sweat,
tears—and often, blood.

On his lips is a threat—to sweep
all of you and eight years of amaz-
ing, Western-style progress into the
sea. ,
If. Mom should think about these
. things in the long night on the tower,
wouldn't it be natural?

Beyond the border is an enemy
with contempt for all your country
represents; opportunity, aid to new-
corners, democracy:
