Many organizations of young
adults have been formed by
parent organizations in an ef-
fort to train future leadership
in years to come. Two such
groups are the University
Women's Chapter of American
Jewish Congress and the Young
Zionist Club.
The former group is composed
of young women of college age,
_generally in the 18 to, 22 age
concentration.
While - such an organization
of college girls has a distinct
adVantage in that programming
is relatively easy with a group
which has similar interests and
goals, it has its disadvantages.
Although only in its second
year, the University Women
have found that reorganize=
tion will be a never-ceasing
problem. Already some of its
leaders have been married,
others have moved away from
the city to attend other col-

on his experiences in Israel's
War of Independence and the
work . of Bnei Akiva in building
Israel.
The seminar also featured a
youth conference on Israel,
sponsored by the YM and
YWHA . of Toronto, which fea-
tured as guest speakers Yehuda
Gallun, Counsellor General of
Israel to Canada and Miss Cha-
na Sugar, of Bnei Akiva, whO
recerrtly returned from Israel.

week of the retirement of Max

for .40 years was superintendent
of maintenance at Grace and
New Grace Hospitals.
Prior to his official retre-
ment on April 1, Mr. Roberts
was given a dinner at the Park
Shelton Hotel, which was at-
tended by the hospital direclor,
his assistants and 50 depart-
ment heads.
- Born in Russia, Mr. Roberts
came to this country in 1907.
After settling at Lynn, Mass.,
he came here in 1915 and be-
gan his employment at Grace -
Hospital.
Mr. Roberts and his family
will spend the summer and fall

leges and some have dwindled
away after graduation.
Still, the group today num-
bereabout 30 young women who
are active in the educational,
cultural and civic program it
carries through.
Emphasis on all programs, as
with . its parent group, the
"American Jewish Congress, is
on Jewish living. Subjects dis-
cussed among themselves and
by speakers have covered a
variety of items from the Ketu-
bah (marriage contract) to the
released time program and sep-
aration of church and state.
Socially, the girls have regu-
lar activities, although vacation
periods; when all of them are
together, find them most active:
Each year, the big event is a
paid-up membership party.
When the group was organ-
ized one of the prime hopes of
AJC leaders was that the girls
would graduate into one of the
many active parent chapters in
the city.
. Also having some difficulty
because of the necessity for re-
organization is the Young Zion-
ist Club.
Through the years there has
always been such an organi-
zation; however, when 'mem-
bers married and joined other
chapters of the Zionist Organi-
iation of America, the young
adult group has always been
re-formed.
Today, working with a small
but active nucleus, the Young
Zionists are again reorganizing
their ranks, under the chair-
manship of Emmanuel Rosen-
berg.
Its members feel- that there is
a definite need for an educa-
tional and social group com-
posed of young people with
Zionist leanings or coming from
Zionist backgrounds.
Although meetings' are being
conducted regularly, full scale
efforts will not begin until the
fall when it is planned to have
a mixed group of both single
people and young marrieds.
Information on its activities
may be obtained from Rosen-
berg, TO 8-9413.
