By FRANK SIMONS
Senior Hadassah has been in
existence in Detroit for almost
as long as the 40 years the or-
ganization has existed national-
ly. Several years ago, Junior
Hadassah groups were formed,
and last year they merged as
one, consolidated organization.
Meanwhile, in still another
area, the Hadassah organization
was expanded with the forma-
tion of the Hadassah Evening
Group, now in its third year.
While Junior Hadassah exists
primarily for girls in the 17 to
25 age group, its membership is
concentrated at the average age
of 21.
Consequently, the Evening
Group has taken on a program
for girls, still in the Young

April Program Set
at Home for Aged

The resident recreation com-
mittee of the Jewish Home for
the Aged announces the comple-
tion of their special activities
program for April.
On Tuesday evening, resi-
dents Harry KuritSky will sum-
marize the news, Lewis Gelb
will read several Yiddish selec-
tions and Anna Fegelman will
sing Yiddish songs. Dr. Herman
Lippitt, a Day Care resident,
will lead a discussion on "How
Parents Living in the Home
Should Act Toward Their Chil-
dren."
Sabbath Services will be con-
ducted at the home on April 34
by Cantor Hyman J. Adler, of
Cong. Bnai David.
To commemorate Israel's In-
dependence Day, a special pro-
gram on April 17 will feature
an address by Louis Levine and
guest singer Chana Shtibel with
modern Israeli songs. Day care
resident Harry Rochkihd will
read selections on the life of
the Chalutzim and Dr. Herman
Lippitt will recite original
poems about Israel.
The speaker of the month,
Rabbi Samuel H. Prero, will
address residents on April 22.
On April 24, Max Weiner will
analyze the news, Abraham
Masserman and Dora Goldstein
will relate several Yiddish
stories and a violin concert will
be given by Abraham Schuch-
man, accompanied by Dora
Bregman, volunteer.
The monthly birthday party,
scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday,
April 26, will feature singing
and dancing to the music of an
"Old Timers" orchestra made
up of older members of the De-
troit Federation of Musicians.
The Detroit Chapter, Bnai Brith
will also provide entertainment.

Adult category, but in the gen-
eral age group concentration of
26 to 30.
The programs of both or-
ganizations are geared to-
ward the program of the
senior organization, which is
considered the Women's Zion-
ist Organization of America,
but a major emphasis in both
groups is on social activities.
On a service basis, both per-
form vital work for Israel.
Junior Hadassah helps to sup-
port the national JH program
for Meier Shfeyah, a children's
village in Israel. Their goal
each year is the complete sup-
port of at least one child at the
Israel institution.
The Evening Group actually
is affiliated with the Detroit
Chapter of Hadassah and works
on nearly all of the same Israel
programs as the Chapter.
Junior Hadassah has just com-
pleted two successful programs,
its "Tender Trap (Leap Year)
Dance" and a Matzo Ball. Plans
are now in progress for a JUG
(Just Us Girls) Night.
One of Junior Hadassah's
major affairs will be a donor
banquet for mothers and daugh-
ters on May 20. Other fund-
raising programs consist of sell-
ing matches, baby-sitting, sell-
ing jewelry,- candy and greet-
ing cards.
Evening Group are a talk from
a member just back from Israel
member just back from Israel
and a fashion, show; a garden
party, and a wienie roast.
Both organizations invite
single men to their programs,
and they maintain mailing lists
for all invitational programs.
Men who wish to be placed on
the mailing list of the Evening
Group can call its president,
Beverly Markowitz, UN. 2-0647.

Meyers, Faye Niemark, Shirley
Ginsberg and Tybie Schneider,

stick and Harriet Harrison, sec-
