Bernard G. Richards

By DAVID SCHWARTZ

(Copyright, 1956, by The
Jewish Telegraphic Ageticy)

A little more than 50 years
ago, Bernard G. Richards, then
in his twenties, woke one
morning and, like Lord Byron,
found himself famous. All be-
cause of a book he had written,
"The Discourses of Keidansky,"
which has become something of
a classic.
After that, Richards kept on
writing about Jewish things—
about Zionism and so on. And
after 50 years of writing about
Zionism, he decided to pay Is-
rael a visit and see if what
he had written about it was
true. He says it is all true —
what the Zionists have been
saying.
The Zionists, says Richards,
were always called crazy, by
people who regarded them-
selves as more level headed.
Well, comments Richards,
"those crazy people have cre-
ated a great country."
Richards was delighted with
Israel. If he had the money, he
says, he would buy a million
dollars worth of Israel Bonds
