Helfand Ruling to Close
New York Boxing Club
Julius Helfand, the news-
making athletic commission
chairman of New York State,
once again rocked the boxing
world with a ruling that was
anxiously awaited by sports
writers, fans, and persoaas in the
boxing profession. He sus-
pended the St. Nicholas Arena,
oldest boxing club in the coun-
try. The action grew out of his
inquiries into conditions in the
boxing world. It appears likely
at this moment that there will
be a legal fight made to contest
his ruling.
