Bnai • Brith Offers Barton's Shows Jewish Students
InitiationTableau Passover . Koshering Preparation

A descriptive tableau, high-
lighted by colorful costuming
and exemplifying service and
fidelity, will be a feature of the
initiation ritual of new 'Bnai
Brith members.
The program, which is the
culminating event of the Great-
er Detroit Women's Council
membership committee, will be
held at 7:30 p. m., March 19, at
Adas Shalom Synagogue.
The membership class is nam-
ed for Mrs. Louis Pearlman, na-
tional president of Bnai Brith,
who will be guest. of honor at
the ceremony. Also present
will be Mrs. Leonard Sims, na-
tional membership chairman.
A Spring Fashion Show will
be presented by Irving's, and
will be accompanied by the
music of Dick Stein and his
orchestra. A charter will be
presented to the new Subur-
ban Chapter of Bnai Brith.
'The third study group ses-
sion is planned for 8:30 p. m.,
Thursday, at Burton School,
Huntington Woods. Rabbi Frank
Rosenthal will carry out the
theme, "Sources of Our Tradi-
tions," by speaking on the
prayerbook.

Irving Howe, associate pro-
fessor of English at Brandeis
University, will lecture, in Eng-
lish, on "Yiddish Literature and
Jewish Values" at 9 p.m., to-
day, in the - Workmen's Circle
Center, 11529 Linwood.
His appearance here is spon-
sored jointly by Chapter II of
the Sholem 'Aleichem Institute
and Workmen's 'Circle Branch
1060.
Howe, who appeared at the
Jewish Book Fair, celebrating
Jewish Book Month last year,
also will speak at a dessert
luncheon at the Sholem Alei-
chem Institute, 18495 Wyoming,
at 1 p.m., Saturday.
His topic will be "Treasury
of Yiddish Stories," taken from
the recently - published book
which he co-edited. The entire
community is invited to both
events.
