son, David, and his five grand-
children.
Dr. Wise visited, among other
places, the Plum Street Temple
where his father, the late Rabbi
Isaac Mayer Wise, was spiritual
leader for many years, and his
alma mater, the Hebrew Union
College-Jewish Institute of Re-
ligion founded by his father in
1875.

In line with Israel's- policy of utilizing Israel Development
Bond funds for the exploitation of. natural resources, Prime
Minister David Ben-Gurion (right foreground) is shown at the
site of a new solar energy device congratulating the inventor,
Henry Tabor (left, foreground), director of the National
Physical Laboratory of the Scientific Council. The new device
absorbs and retains the sun's ran by employing alternate
layers of metal and black paint, which are encased in specially
treated glass. The installation, which can convert water into
steam, costs considerably less than a standard petroleum-
operated engine.

Translate Tablets of
Nebuchadnezzar Era

LONDON, (JTA) — One of
four clay tablets now in the
possession of the British Muse-
urn contains contemporary ref-
erences to the capture of Jeru-
salem by the Babylonian King
Nebuchadnezzar and the be-
ginning of the Babylonian cap-
tivity, it was revealed here in
a lecture to the British Acad-
emy by D. J. Wiseman, of the
Department of Western Asiatic
Antiquities at the British Mu-
seum.
The tablets belong to a Se-
ries known as the "Babylonian
Chronicle," which give a year
by year account of the main
political and - religious events
from 626 B. C. E. to 594 B.C.E.,
with a break of only six years.
Wiseman disClosed that the
tablet in question, now deciph-
ered, records that Nebuchad-
nezzar, King of Babylon "in his
seventh year, mustered his
troops and marched into the
land of HAW, besieged the city
of Judah, and, on the second
day of the month of Adar (597
B.C.E.) captured the city and
took the King prisoner. He ap-
pointed there a King of his
own choice and, haVing exacted
a heavy tribute, sent it with
prisoners to Babylon."
This is the first time that an
exact date has been established
for the capture of Jerusalem.

Rap Jewish Council on
Hymn Singing Protest

BURLINGTON, Vt., (JTA) —
A sharp attack on the Vermont
Jewish Council for protesting,
in its own publication, against
the singing of Christian hymns
in public schools was contained
.in a front page editorial of the
Burlington Daily News.
"This is a Christian country,"
the editorial stated, "and Chris-
tians should not be prevented
from practicing their religion,
nor should our public school
system be reduced to a Godless
state because a very minute
faction of the population doesn't
like Christian hymns."
The editorial also warned that
"persistence by any small Jew-
ish minority to • prevent the
singing of hymns in schools is
going to cause a very unfortun-
ate reaction on the Jewish
people in Vermont.

vealed that between 1950 and
1955 the line had increased ser-
vice from 14,000 passengers an-
nually to 34,000 a year.
A fifth Constellation passen-
