Country Day
is in its ninth
season as a day
Kanfer camp for boys
and girls, 3 to 13. This is Pine
Crest's first year as a resident
camp for boys, 8 to 15.
The day camp is near Walled
Lake, and Pine Crest is near
Brighton, 15 miles away. .
Before his appointment as as-
sistant principal, Kanfer was an
instructor in physical education.
For the last three summers, he
was assistant director at Camp
Hiawatha.
.At Pine Crest, Kanfer will be
assisted by James Langley, Red
Cross water safety instructor.
At Country Day Camp, he will
be assisted by Arthur Ross,
former Detroit teacher and now
a Wayne medical school student.

At Council Luncheon

Highlighting the overseas
program of the National Council
of Jewish Women, the Detroit
Section will present Dr. Fred-e;
erick R. Lachman, executive
director of the American Friends
of Hebrew University, as guest
speaker at a complimentary
luncheon Monday afternoon, at
Temple Israel.
Affiliated with. the university
since 1938, Dr. Lachman is pres-
ently touring the United States
as a representative of the Israel
Ministry of Education and Cul-
ture.
As part of its national affairs
program, Council supports the
secondary school of the Hebrew
University and sponsors two
scholarshiP students from for-
eign countries in the ,United
States.
At present, Miss Dvora Meyer
is studying nursing administra-
tion at Wayne University, and
Mrs. Miriam. Morris is studying
nursery school administration
at Merrill-Palmer School, under
the program.- . -

To Meet Twice in March

The Youth Group of Cong.
Ahavas Achim will meet Tues-
day evening, in the synagogue.
A second monthly meeting is
planned for March 20 when re-
ports of the United Synagogue
Youth regional conference the
weekend of March 9, will be
heard.
Members will present a pro-
gram at a Sisterhood meeting
in honor of Jewish Music Month
on March 12. They will offer
Jewish songs and dances in
honor of Passover.

In commemoration of Broth-
erhood Week, the Human Rela-
tion.s Club, in association with
the Broadcasters Guild, held an
assembly to acquaint students
with the meaning of Brother-
hood. A radio play was present-
ed based on the Detroit race
riots of 1943.
May 7 has been set for Stu-
dent Day. Each class will elect
their teacher for the day and
students will take over as prin-
cipal and counselors.
Jay Hamburg announced to
the Student Council that t h e
projects of the program com-
mittee for this year will be Stu-
dents' Day, Variety Show and
a Faculty vs. 12As baseball
game.
The date for the Spring Fling
has' een changed from May 5 to
April 21. It will be held at Lo-
vett Hall.
Recently elected 9B senators
to the Student Council are Sue
Rice, Tessie Silvers, Gary Stern,
and Barbara Weiss.
Temple Israel Youth Group
extends an invitation to all who
wish to attend the Oneg Shab-
bat tonight after services at the
temple.
Results of the try-outs for the
spring play, "Time Out for Gin-
ger", are: Emily Freedman' as
Ginger, Henry Sandweiss as the
