Franko Goldman, 78, band mas-
ter and composer, died here.
Mr. Goldman is credited with
having been the most important
single factor in the continuation
of public band concerts in New
York, long after these had dis-
appeared from most American
cities. He had received many
honorary degrees, as well as
decorations from foreign gov-
ernments.
