Students with relieved, rest-
ed faces returned to school on
Monday to receive their marks
on final examinations. These
were taken last Thursday and
Friday. Tuesday, report cards
were distributed, and the rest
of the week was a semester-
Change vacation.
Monday, students will return
to get new schedules; Tuesday
we will be on "half-day sched-
ule" to -acquaint us with our
teachers, and Wednesday a
fresh, new term will begin.

Temples Israel, Beth-El, and
Emanu-El have joined their
youth groups for an "Evening in
Paris." This will be a semi-for-
mal dance at Temple Israel, on
Saturday night. The "Counts"
will be playing the music, and
everyone is hoping for a suc-
cessful affair.

B. Benedict Glazer AZA re-
cently held. an election of offi-
cers. The following will soon
be installed: president, Arthur
Rubin; vice-president, Steve
Losh; treasurer,. ' Sheldon Dol-
vick; secretaries, Carl Shulak
and Arthur Baker; shofar,
Chuck CalM; chaplain, Shel-
Winkleman; pledgemaster, Ber-
nie Glieberman; - and sergeants-
at-arms, Alan Sunshine and
Marwin Herman.

Bnai David Goes
Undefeated in
Basketball League

Bnai David and Temple Beth
El continue to pace the. Inter-
Congregational Basketball
League, as Shaarey Zedek,
which got off to a fast start
began to fade, following three
successive losses in as many
weeks.
Beth Aaron, tied for third
place with Shaarey Zedek,
looked good last week defeating
Adas Shalom, and Beth Aaron
dropped a 35-31 decision to
Shaar Hashomayim.
In other league games. at
Mackenzie High School, Beth
El beat Bnai Moshe, 36-16; Beth
Aaron topped Adas Shalom, 30-
25; Ahavas Achim won its first
game, 23-13, Over Temple Israel;
and • Bnai David won an excit-
ing game from Zedek, 28-21.

Bnai Moshe to Honor
Past, Present Officers

The outgoing administration
of Cong. Bnai Moshe, headed by
Alfred L. Deutsch, and incom-
ing officers led by Sigmund
Jaulus, will be honored at • a
congregational dinner- dance
Saturday evening, in the syna-
gogue social hall.
Dr. Paul Fraiberg, the toast-
master, will introduce- both the
past and current, officers, Rabbi
Moses Lehrman will speak, and
musical selections will be of-
fered by Cantor David Katz-
man.
Eugene Weiss is chairman of

which is planning the evening's
program.

The always noisy and busy
journalism room was calm and
quiet for a change last Thurs-
day when editor-in-chief of the
Central Student, Gloria Manela,
and her staff announced the
names of the Spring editors and
'managers.
Eugene Loren has been ap-
pointed the new editor-in-chief,
to be aided by page editors
Roberta Finkel, Rosalie Berman,
Izetta Ray and. Eddie Spilkin.
The new advertising manager
is Helen Freedman and the cir-
culation editor is Audrey Sum-
mers. The paper's adviser is
Birger Bakke.

Elections were held Thursday
for the representatives of the
Detroit-Windsor Council to the
Michigan • Region executive
board of AZA. Alan Rosenthal,
Council President, is automatic-
ally a member of this board.
Among those nominated to serve
with him were Shel Winkel-
man, Lenny Solomon, Jerry .
Uzansky, Al Freedman, Lenny
Lachover and Ronnie Aronson.

day were winners of the Phi
Beta Kappa awards, who includ-
ed. Ronnie Horwitz, _ = Barbara
Janower, Sandra Komisar, Jac-
ob Lorber, Marsha Lowinger,
Gloria Manela, Alicia Margolis,
Sheldon Pringle and Lois Shur-
gin. The award goes to those
compiling an A minus average
in three years of high school.
The 190 students winning cit-
izenship awards this term and
their parents were guests of
honor at - the third annual Citi-
zenship Recognition Convoca-
tion held last Tuesday in the
auditorium. Taking part in the
program were Joanna Kohn,
Sharon. Bernstein, Jim Lafferty
and Alan Rosenthal.

Sets Brunch Meeting

The regular general meeting
of the Business and Profession-
al Group of J-ladassah will be
held at 12:30 p.m., Sunday at
Horowitz Catering.
A special program arranged
by Rose Poskel will feature a
bruncheon, followed by a re-
view of Sholem Aleichem's
book, "The Great Fair" by Mrs.
Nathan. Spevakow and a dis-
cussidn of the B & P's Voca-
tional Education project, whose
goal is training young Israelis
in some \skill, particularly
homemaking:
