Policy Advisor to the U. S.
Mission in Israel. He previous-
ly served the United States

prosecutor at the war crimes
trials in Nuremburg.
In an interview with Fran
Harris of WWJ, Mr. Van Street
told his radio audience that
"Israel and the Middle East
was of prime strategic impor-
tance to the United States and

here in this country for a lim-

Col. Ben Edden. Col. Edden is
directing Israel Bond activities
in Michigan. The' Eddens will
return to Israel •in August.

success of its drive to establish
a free loan fund in Israel in
honor of Mr. Bernstein, the
editor of the Detroit Jewish
Daily Forward, Jewish Labor
Committee, Community Coun-
cil and Workmen's Circle figure
who has sparked numerous ef-
forts for civic betterment.
The Bernstein fund in Israel
will be administered by the
overseas services of the Jewish
Labor Committee, of which
Bernstein is a national vice-
chairman. The money, in a re-
volving fund, will be used to
settle new arrivals and to help
them develop economic oppor-
tunity.
Speakers at the climax meet-
ing will include Circuit Judge
George Edwards, a long-time
friend of Bernstein's who will
represent Gov. Williams; Roy
Reuther, director of the polit-
ical action department of the
UAW, representing his brother;
Walter, UAW president.
Musical entertainment will be
offered by the Detroit Vocal
Art Quartet,. composed of
mezzo-soprano Bella Goldberg,
soprano - Shoshana Freedman,
tenor George Richter and bari-
tone Don Frolunan.
There will be no collection or
solicitation at the affair for
which admission is free. Re-
fresh.ments will follow the pro-
gram.
