To get the 1956 Allied Jewish Campaign off to an early
start, to spark the national $25,000,000 UJA Special Fund, top
leaders in the pre-campaign phase of the Women's Division,
85 contributors of $500 and over were addressed by Maria
Riva, leading lady of the play, "Tea and Sympathy," and
ardent United Jewish Appeal supporter, who recently visited
Israel.

Sen. Herbert H. Lehman of
New York has been selected to
receive the Award of Merit for
1955 from the Decalogue So-
ciety of Lawyers at its annual
Patriotic Dinner on Feb. 18, in
Chicago.
Sen. Lehman will also be
honored- at a national testi-
monial dinner given by the
United Jewish Appeal on Jan.
21 in New York.
Bernard Sokol, president of
the Society, said, "As one of

the most articulate members of
the senate, Sen. Lehman has
had the courage and strength
to speak out where responsible
utterance was needed."
The Decalogue Society con-
sists of 1,500 lawyers and
judges of the Jewish faith be-
longing to both major parties.
Among those who have re-
ceived the Award of Merit' in
the past are Rabbi Stephen S.
Wise, Dr. Albert Einstein, for-
mer president Harry S. Tru-
man and Wendell. Winkle.
