MISS JUDITH ZABEL
in
raise
By New York Critics
Detroit pianist Seymour Lip-
15in, appearing in concert at
Town Hall in New York, won
increasing praise from that
city's music critics. -
The critic from The New
York Times said Lipkin "dem-
onstrated that his phenomenal
pianistic and musical gifts are
broadening and maturing with
the passing of time."
Speaking on his early career,
the critic added that "Lipkin's
career promises not to • be one
that begins with the brilliance
of a meteor and burns out with
-a meteor's rapidity. He showed
poise and maturity in • his play-
ing.
"The well-drilled fingers are
as fluent as ever, but mere
brilliance is not the goal. Mr.
Lipkin employs technique as a
means to musical ends rather
than for its own sake," he
added.
