Nearly 85 relatives and associates of Mr. and Mrs. Norman
Cottler joined in celebration of the couple's 35th wedding anni-
versary. A surprise party in their honor was given at Sammy's
Avalon Room by their children, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Cohen and
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Cottler. In honor of the occasion, Mr. and
Mrs. Cottler's name was inscribed in the Golden Book of the Jewish
National Fund, in Jerusalem. •
Mr. and Mrs. Morris Cantor, formerly of Chicago Blvd., have
moved into their new home at 19153 Tracey.
Mrs. Morris Katz, of the Bronx, N. Y., is the guest of her chil-
dren, Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Scheuer, and her sister and brother-
in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Hordes. .
Mrs. Morris Schaver and son, Itzhak, are visiting with their
parents and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Lazaroff, in Los
Angeles.
- Mr. and Mrs. Sam Barill were honored recently on the occasion
of their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a party given by their
children, Mr. and Mrs. L. Barill, Mr. and Mrs. H. Barill, Mr. and
Mrs. S. Leitman and Mr. and Mrs. N. Barill. Open house was held at
the home of the Leitmans, of 13325 Victoria, Huntington Woods.
_ Abraham Kastenbaum, Dorothy Roer and Henry Stern, of the
Jewish Community Center staff, were recent participants in a Winter
Holiday Workshop sponsored by the Agency for Coordinated Lead-
ership Education. The workshop was devoted to program materials
for Hanukah.
Mr. Paul Boraks, of 18491 Wisconsin, will leave today for Copen-
hagen, Denmark, where he will join his wife and- daughter, Barbara
Ann, who left Dec. 10. The Boraks family will ,visit relatives and
friends and attend the Bar Mitzvah of a nephew and the wedding
of a cousin while in Copenhagen. They will then leave for an
extended tour of the Continent, which _includes stops in France,
Switzerland, Sweden and England, before they return home in the
middle of January.
Max Edwards, of 17172 Prairie, will celebrate his 87th birthday
on Dec. 26.
Arlazaroff Branch
to Honor J. J. Schwartz
Arlazaroff Branch 137 of the
Farband Labor Zionist Organiza-
tion will honor J.. J. Schwartz,
-- noted Hebrew and Yiddish poet
and essayist, on Monday evening,
at Zionist House.
The program is arranged in
celebration of Mr. Schwartz' 70th
birthday, and will feature narra-
tions by the poet of his latest
work, "Kentucky." The volume
was r e c e n t l y translated by
Schwartz into Hebrew and i5 now
being published in Israel.
All who are interested in honor-
ing Mr. Schwartz are invited to
attend. A social ‘hour will con-
clude the evening.

volunteer co-workers a unique
present come Christmas this
year, according to reports re-
ceived from its USO-JWB' field
staff by the National Jewish
Welfare .Board. Reciprocating for
courtesies shown them at the
Jewish New - .Year and Day of
Atonement, the JWB-USO
unteers will take over programs
at USO clubs from non-Jewish
volunteers, permitting the latter
to spend the holiday at home
with their families.
JWB, one of the seven agen-
cies of USO, serves the USO pro-
gram through a field staff of 25
USO-JWB workers in the U. S.
and overseas and 265 local
Armed Services Committees com-
prising nearly 10,000 men and
women volunteers.
