TEL AVIV - Dr. 'Weir Ebner,
veteran Zionist leader and mem-
ber of .the First World Zionist
-congress, died here Tuesday at
age of 82. He was Dr. Theodor
Herzl's secretary and was known ,
as one of the outstanding leaders
of Romanian Jewry.
Born - in Czernowitz, he served
as a member of the Romanian
Senate for 10 years. He was also
president of the Jewish National
Council of Romania from 1918
till 1938. During the same 20
years, he was editor and pub-
lisher of Ostjuedische Zeitung,,-
Jewish newspaper published in •
Czernowitz in the German lan-
guage. He settled in Israel in
1940.

Benjamin Silverberg Dies

Benjamin Silverberg, a physi-
cal education instructor and as-
sistant athletic director at Red-
ford High School, died Dec. 11.
He hail resided at 16550 River-
dale. '
He was a member of Phi Delta
Kappa, honorary health and phy-
sical education fraternity, and
had been active for many years
with the Jewish Community
Center.
Services were held at Ira Kauf-
man Chapel. He leaves his wife,
Jeanne; two sons, Stephen Bruce
and Andrew - Ian; a brother;
David; and two. sisters, Fay and
Mrs., Robert Riffkin, the latter
three all of New York.
He was a member of Phi Delta
Kappa, honorary health and
physical education fraternity,
and had been active for many
years with the Jewish- Commun-
ity Center.
