'Hanukah candle-lighting cere-
monies' were held. in every stu-
dent dormitory at the University
of Michigan.
After devouring scrumptious
potato- latkes s at their regular

members served as hosts to the
various religiOus groups on
campus.
In their honor, ."A Light in
Darkness," an Eternal Light
Script whose cast included De-
troiters Carol Krohn and Sey-
mour Manello as well as Muske-
gonite D obby Schr eiber, • was
presented. Ronald Muchnick of
Ann Arbor and Phyllis Parnes of
Flint • assisted • in planning the
evening.

Appointed to U. of M.'s Stu-
dent GOilVernmen-t Council (SGC)
committee posts were Dick Good
and Joel Tauber of Detroit and
Don Good of Flint. Bebe Rosen-
zweig, Jan Sosin and Marilyn

in SGC activities.
Meredith Tiegel was one of 14
newly-tapped members to the
Senior Honor Society, women's
honorary for leadership . and
service.
Larry Sperling, of Ann. Arbor,
was one of 15 tapped to the Bar-

since 1949, ten-year-old "Landa
Von Lottenberg", pedigree Ger-
man Shepherd, was killed by a
car.

Dr. Rubin Kahn, renowned
serologist and member of the
University Hospital' staff, was
guest speaker at a recent in-
formal Hillel, coffee hour.
Hillel plans to continue having
informal "Meet the Faculty'
hours at 4 to 5 on Fridays, next
semester. •
Margaret Galdonyi appeared in
the student dramatic production,
"The Worlds of Tommy All-
bright," a play on juvenile delin-
quency written by U. of M.
senior Russell Brown.
Dancing a lyric ballet to
"Waltz" in the joint winter con-
cert of the Universitly Ballet and
Modern Dance Clubs last Sun-
day were Elaine Grosso and Bar-
bara Sorcher.

Scrap Trade Association

At a recent meeting of the
Greater Detroit Scrap Trade
Association, Henry Miller was
elected president. Serving with
him during the forthcoming year
will be:
Martin Shulman and Erwin,
Robinson, vice-presidents; Louis
Marcus and Ben Davis, secre-
taries; Jack Sipher, treasurer;
Sam Wasserman, sgt.-at-arms;
Lewis Stern, Louis Freedman and
Sam S•chwartzberg, trustees; and
Louis Alpert, Daniel Haron and
Leo Borden, members-at-large.
The organization functions to
disseminate information relating
to the • scrap trade and to act
as representative of scrap dealers
in negotiations- with the Govern-
ment, steel mills and 'other scrap
associations.
The new officers will be in-
stalled at the seventh annual
dinner meeting, Feb. 4, at Bel-
Aire Terrace.

Scholarship competition. This

Plan Hanukah Event

The Women's Auxiliary of the
Maimonides Medical Society will
meet for a buffet luncheon and
program at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday,
at the Detroit Historical Museum.
A Hanukah presentation will be
featured, with Mrs. Samson S.
Wittenberg entertaining with a
group of Hanukah songs, includ-
ing the blessing over the Hanu-
kah candles. Mrs. Gertrude Ob-
erstein will be accompanist.
Mrs. Max Steiner, president,
will preside over the business

report from Mrs. Benjamin
Parker, membership chairman, on
the membership drive closing in
January.

Slates Biennial Meeting

The Mechanical Trades Division
of the Jewish Welfare Federa-
tion's Detroit Service Group will
hold its biennial meeting 8:15
p.m., Dec. 29 at the Esther Ber-
man Building, 18977 Schaefer,
announces Emil T. Stern, division
chairman.
Officers and representatives to
its own Board, the Detroit Serv-
ice Group's and Federation's
board of governors will be
elected.
Members of the nominating
