Yurica Mann Plans Two Exhibitions
At Temple Israel, Wayne University
Yurica Mann, director of the '
Jerusalem Art Center, who ar-
rived in this country several
weeks ago to arrange for exhibi-
tions of the works of eminent
- Israeli artists, was in Detroit
this week to plan two exhibi-
tions—a graphic arts display at
Wayne University and an exhibi-
tion of paintings at Temple Is-
rael. The exhibitions are planned
for the latter part of January.
Miss Mann will deliver several
lectures here on her return visit
at that time.
_ Miss Mann also is planning
the presentation of an oil
painting of a Jerusalem land-
scape to Governor Williams
for the State House in Lans-
ing.
A committee of sponsors is be-
ing organized for the Detroit
exhibitions, under the chairman-
ship of Charles E. Feinberg.
Presentations similar to the
one planned for the State of
Michigan have been made by
Miss Mann to California, Mary-
land, New York and the District
of. Columbia.
After presenting a gift re-
cently to Notre Dame University,
Miss Mann was given the key to
the city in South Bend, Ind.
Miss Mann, a native of Jer-
usalem, is a graduate of the
Ecole d'Louvre in Paris. She
has visited this country sev-
eral times on missions similar
to the present one. In 1947
she supervised an exhibition
of Israeli art works in New
York at the invitation of the
late Dr. Stephen S. Wise.
On several occasions, Miss
Mann represented the State of
Israel at international-UNESCO
conferences. She covered the
Queen's Coronation for BBC in
London and on that occasion she
arranged for the presentation of
a portfolio of 12 woodcuts by
Jacob Steinhardt to Sir Winston
Churchill.
Miss Mann pointed out, during
her stay here that the aim of the
Israel Art Center she represents
is to popularize the works of
noted artists — including Mane-
Katz, Steinhardt, Ludwig Blum,
Ashheim, Frenkel, Mokadi, Ru-

"Show Fighting Spirit"
Editor, The Jewish News:
I have just read "Wake Up,
America," and believe that this
is the only way to rouse public
opinion. If we want the help of
our fellow Americans we must
show them we have a fighting
spirit.
This is one subscriber who is
pleased with this kind of attack.
I am sure that some of the
Government officials in Wash-
ington will sit up and take
notice sooner or later. I hope
it's sooner.
