Dr. Marvin Fox. to Address Mizrachi Banquet, Jan. 18, for Bar-Ilan U.

Announcement was made this
week by Mizrachi Organization
of Detroit that Dr. Marvin Fox,
of Columbus, 0., professor of
philosophy at Ohio State Uni-
versity • and director of the Co-
lumbus Institute of J e wish
Studies, will be the guest
speaker at the annual banquet,
at the Latin. Quarter, Jan. 18.
Proceeds of the event will be
used for the .support of Bar-Ilan
University in Israel. •

It has also been announced
that the guest artist will be Uri
Zifroni, member of the Israel
Op e r a a n d internationally
known singer.
Dr. Fox, who joined the fac-
ulty of Ohio State University
in 1948, is associate editor of
the Jewish Parent, contributing
editor to Judaism; and a con-
tributor to Comrrientary, Anti-
och Review and many other pe-
riOdicals:-

He is author of "Kant's
Fundamental Principles of the
Metaphysics of Morals" and
has written many 'articles and
reviews for literary and philo-
sophic journals. He is a mem-
ber of the American Philo-
sophical Association, the

can Association for • the Ad-
vancement of . Science, the
Medieval Academy of Amer-
ica and other professional and
scholarly societies.
A brilliant speaker and lec-
turer, Dr. Fox is a member of
the Academician's Committee of
the. Bar-Ilan University.
Expressing his opinion on sev-
eral occasions about the Bar-
Ilan University, he s t a t e d,
"Jews, who have always been
distinguished for their scholarly
attainment, have sorely needed
such a University. The , great
promise of Bar-Ilan. University
is that it will make it possible
for the best Minds of our time
to develop an ideal synthesis
between the best in the Jewish
tradition and the best in the
cultures and civilizations of the
Western World."

Argentines Discharge Rabbi
From Rabbinical Council

BUENOS AIRES, (JTA)—The
presidium of the Jewish Com - .
munity of this city voted to dis-
charge Rabbi Amram Blum from
its Rabbinic Council on the
grounds that he had' not complied
with the terms of his duties.
Rabbi Blum has headed the Rab-
binical Council for a number of
years.
