ish National Home for Asth-
matic Children at Denver for
its annual donor luncheon,
scheduled for Jan. 11, at Ma-
sonic Temple.
The Denver institution accepts
young patients only when every
other know n method fails.
Treatment is administered with-
out the aid of acth, cortisone,
other wonder drugs or even oxy-
gen. Drugs are administered
only in emergencies.
A full-time psychiatrist is
employed at the home, and be-
fore_ long the skinny, wheezing
child that was brought to the
hospital is gaining weight and
able to participate in games and
school classes. - -
The average length of the
child's stay is two years, after
which. - most are perfectly heal-
thy and able to return to their
homes and resume a normal
life.

at the hospital, the Detroit Lea-:

University of Michigan's school./ of music, has pledged Sigma Alpha
Iota, national music sorority.
Lieut. (JG) and Mrs. Jack Frank (Beverly Stein) have returned
to the .Naval Communications Station at Guam following a trip to
Japan, Okinawa, Formosa and the Philippines. U. Frank is Navy
Exchange Officer on Guam. The couple • will return to this country
about April.
Miss Lorraine Shepherd, of 19767 Sorrento, was hostess to a
group of her friends at la luncheon recently in honor of her birthday.
Messrs.. Robert George Portnoy and Bertram Malcolm Shapero
will spend the forthcoming holiday season with their parents. They
will arrive here around Dec. 19, after driving from Charlottesville,
where they are students at the University of Virginia.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Z. Brummer and sons, Charles and Barry,
formerly of Roselawn Ave., are now residing in their new home at
24221 Berkley, in Oak Park.
Mr. and Mrs. I. Ziporyn, of W. Davison Ave., recently enter-
tained at a dinner party celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary,
which was held at Sid's Cafe.

9th annual donor luncheon at
12:30 p.m., Wednesday at the
Masonic Temple. Proceeds from
the event will completely clothe
and finance summer camp vaca-
tions for under-privileged chil-
dren.
Sheruth League also provides
camp scholarships for mentally
and physically handicapped chil-
dren. •
Highlighting the program will
be a fashion show by a local
firm commentated by Laurena
Pringle .of the Free Press. As has
been the custom • in the • past, a
givgaway-prize program will be
featured.

Jack E. Frankel, New York,
former associate director of the
Fairbanks, Alaska, USO club,
has been named director of the
National Jewish. Welfare Board
Servicemen's Center in Kaiser-
slautern, Germany, it was an-
nounced by S. D. Gershovitz,
JWB executive vice-president.
Mr. Frankel, who sailed for
Europe laSt week, succeeds the
husband and wife team of Aaron
and Geraldine Grodsky, who
have been the JWB club directors

Carl Alpert, public relations
director of the Technion, Israel
Institute of Technology, who was
recently promoted to the post of
assistant to the Institute' Presi-
dent, will visit Detroit this week.
Mr. :Alpert, who was formerly
editor of the New Palestine and
national director of the education
department of the Zionist Organ-
ization of America, settled in Is-
rael in 1952.
His present visit to the States
has been undertaken at the re-
quest of Technion president, Gen-
eral Yaakov Dori.
While in Detroit, he will con-
sult with leaders of the Detroit
Chapter of the Arnericark Tech-
nion Society.
