Anxious 12-B's have been hur-
rying through the halls trying to
get enough signatures for peti-
tions. Others have been working
diligently - typing name tags,
making poster* and painting bal-
loons.
The reason behind the activity
is the 12-B class election, a high-
light of every semester,.- which
will take place Thursday. Cam-
paign day, the most colorful part
of any election, will be the day
before balloting. -
Hopeful candidates for office
are president, Jim Lafferty, Dave
Lipschutz- and Alan Rosentha't;
vice-president, Danny Docks and

The Sportsmanship Council
carried out its semi-annual stt-
dent exchange program today,
with pupils from Redford High
School.. Those 'lites visiting Red-
ford were Tony Martin, Verne-
thia Parker, Leo Pelto, Norman
Young, and Wilbur Hall. The
welcoming •committee' consisted
of: Margie Serlin, Bob Jones,
Elsie Pitts, Barbara McCants,
Wilbert Blake and Mary Mason.

The Girls' . Athletic AsSociation
presented its Play Day in the
school gym. last Friday. 'The - girls
attending (no . boys allovied)
played, basketball, volleyball,
shuffleboard and ping gong.

The basketball team, fresh with
new faces, - opens another season
today, playing at Redford. The
cagers, who have always given
the school a team to be proud of,
have nine returning lettermen
from the team "which made the
semi-final round of the city play-
offs last winter. They are: .How-
ard Cohen, Doyle Cole, Louis
Gibbs, Chuck Ogier, Brunson
&filth, Marvin Walker, Norman
Worthy, Howard. Worthy and
Phil Zdanowicz.

Ellen Sherman to Wed
Illinois Medical Student

The annual Winter Concert
will take place at 8 p.m.,
Wednesday, in Mumford's audi-
torium. This year the .concert
has a sparkling list of soloists
and musical compositions. Jo-
anne a n d Joyce Weintraub,
•11A's, are duo pianists, and
Judy Berman, will solo on the
violin.
T h e orchestra directed by
Jerome Stasson will perform
the overture to the "Barber of
Seville;' and "Jazz Pizzicato"
with a twirling exhibition by
the bass fiddle soloists and an
original' Composition—"Vari,
ations on Hanukah Themes" by
Stasson.
The chorus will perform the
Sabbath song "Yis'mChu" and
compositions by Bath and. Han-
del which - will be feature in
the finale.
The Band, under Roger Has-
kins,'will include Humperdinck's
"Children's Prayer" from the
opera "Hansel a n d Gretel,"
"Greensleeves" and the "Snow
Carnival Overture."
Tickets can be obtained at the
boxoffice before the concert. and

A terrific talent show entitled
Babes in Toyland, given last
Thursday during Senior Study
was enjoyed by all 12A's. It
was under the direction of David
Burnstein and Judy Copley, pro-
gram and committee chairman.

Jaffe :Appointed
Camp Ke-Yu-Ma Head

Camp Ke-Yu-..Ma this week an-
nounced the 'appointment of Ber-
nard Jaffe as - carrip director.
Jaffe, known- to many youngsters
and :parents as. 'Uncle -.Bernie"
has been in teaching and tamp-
ing for 18 y. ears.
At one time
the owner and
director of a
Michigan. camp,
Jaffe served as
recreation direc-
tor for -the De-
partment of
Parks and Rec-
reation for eight
years.

youth director of Adas Shalom
Synagogue, is currently making
plans for camp programs and
projects for the 1956 summer
