To Support Banquet

at the annual banquet of the
Vaad Horabbonim, scheduled for
6:30 p.m., Monday, at Holiday
Manor.

The announcement added that
this new organization will aid in

serve sabbath observance, kash-

Other purposes expounded by
the statement would be to pro-
vide adult education forums,
classes and study groups, to en-
courage preservation of existing
neighborhoods and to cooperate
with the Vaad Horabbonim in
solving religious problems- with
which it is faced from time to
time.

`Land, Love, Latkes'

The United Hebrew Schools
will hold its Hanukah Works-hop
at 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, at the
Esther Berman Building, 18977

conducted by Miss Bat-Ami Rab-
ban, who is here from Israel to
head the UHS arts and crafts
department.
The workshop is -sponsored by
the Parent-2Teachers Organiza-
tions of the Adas Shalom, Beth
Aaron, Esther Berman, 0 a k
Park-Huntington Woods and
Nursery branches.
Albert Elazar, superintendent
of the schools, will give a brief
talk on the historic background
of the holiday, and Mrs. Chana
Stiebel, music director of the
schools, will lead the parents in
Hanukah songs. There will be a
gift shop to give parents ideas for
the holiday.
A social hour will follow. The
community is invited to attend.
A similar workshop will take
place at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday in
Rosman Hall of the Briai Moshe
Branch, for the parents of the
Dexter-Linwood area. PTO rep-
resentatives directing the work-
shop are Harry Saul, director. of
the vocational department of
Wilbur Wright High School, and
Mrs. Francis Hirsch, president of
the Bnai Mos-he PTO. Teachers
in charge are J. M. Mathis and
Mrs. Berta Goldman.
Prior to the workshop, there
will be a short meeting at which
time Leonard Antel will explain
the significance of the holiday.
The singing of Hanukah songs
will be led by Abraham Schach-
ter.

With an eye toward breaking
ground soon for a permanent
synagogue building, the Ever-
green Jewish Congregation will
sponsor an original musical com-
edy, "Land, Love and Latkes,"
to be presented by -its Drama
Workshop this Sunday evening,
at Beth Aar-on Synagogue.
The revue, developed around
the familiar surroundings of
American Jewish humor, is pro-
duced by Lillian Kellman. Pro-
fessional props and accoutrements
will assist the cast of 22 people
in the production.
Funds from the show will be
used to speed a proposed syna-
gogue to serve residents of the
Seven Mile - Evergreen area.
Started as a High Holiday min-
yan in 1951, the synagogue has
continued to grow to its present
members-hip of 200 families.
Rabbi Sydney K. Mossman is
spiritual leader of the congrega-
tion, and Herman Sussman is
president.
