Rep. Lesinski Backs
_ Council Stand on Nazi

Expressing agrzement with
with the position taken by the
Jewish Community Council of
Metropolitan Detroit, John Le-
sinski, Congressman from the
16th District, has protested to
the State Department the ad-
mission of Herbert von Kara-
jan to this country.
Rep. Lesinski's protest to
Secretary Dulles points out
that von Karajan had clearly
identified himself with the
Nazis as early as 1933. He
added that, "it certainly app
pears unreasonable to issue
entrance visas for such pure
poses as that of von Karajan's
without first obtaining , con-
vincing evidence of a strong
disavowal of Nazism and all
that it stands for."
