"Tile • interest return is lib-
oral, and the underlying secur-
ity is of the best. Israel has al-
ready demonstrated her willing-
ness and ability to defend her-
self against all enemies. The
fire of patriotism burns higher
here perhaps, than anywhere
else in the modem world. Is-
rael is not built upon hate, but
upon love—love for the historic.
homeland, love for the down-s
trodden -and oppressed who are
Welcomed as they come empty-
handed from other lands. Israel
has not only. her own resources
Upon which to draw—but also .
the resources of people Of good-
will all over the world who are
determined -that this great ad-
venture in. democracy shall not
perish.

stein said, referring . to the
Northern Tier pact, "Russia

Czech arms to Egypt."
The arms, he declared, are not
simple weapons but .complicated
arms that need technicians —
RUssian technicians—to set them
up'. This is the result of the
West's faith in Egypt, he added.
Referring. to an address de-
liVered by Israel Foreign Min-
ister Moshe Sharett in . Chicago
earlier thiS week, Rabbi Wein-
stein emphasized --that "we can
do nothing for Israel on the
military front, but economically,
through investment dollars and
free • dollars—such as our move-
ment represents—lies our source
of aid to that struggling coun-
try."
The large audience had turned
out to bid farewell to ;saac Ham-
lin,: a top executive in the Histad-
rut Campaign in the United
States for 31 years.

Israel bonds may • depend upon '
it that the interest will be paid
an time and in full, and that
the -bonds will be redeemed at
their full face value when - the
redemption date comes around.
"It is not words but action-
that Israel needs now, and the
Most direct form of action we
can provide is through financial
investment in the country's fu-
ture.
"These bonds furnish more
than money for a little country
with a big dream. They stiffen
the sinews of an embattled peo-
ple, they give substance to
glimpses of a brighter future,
they voice in unmistakable
terms America's support 'of the
democratic way, in whatever
part of the world it happens to
need help."
In his address, Senator McNa-
mara declared:
"Israel's objectives are strik-
ingly similar to those of the in-
fant United States of America—
the destruction of privilege, the
pooling of the talents of all in a
democratic striving for the bet-
ter things of life, and a continu-

ewils4 national

ing drive to raise the standard

of living for a people who have
found life itself not easy to pre-
serve in a world of strife and
dissension. Israel's problem is
capital investment, and that in-
vestment is required at a rate
which would have appalled the
men of finance of an earlier
age. These people are content
to do without, just so long as
their country and their children
will ultimately reap the re-
wards of present self-denial. But
they must have the tools to do
the job."
