Northwest Israel Slates
Membership Meeting

Northwest Israel Synagogue
will hold its first _general mem-
bership meeting of the current
season on Nov. 26, in the syna-
gogue, 17376 Wyoming.
Harry L, Blitz, congregational

comed and honored at this time.
Entertainment and a social hour
sponsored by the Sisterhood will
follow. -
A program of youth activities
has been organized by the con-
gregation. Meeting on Saturday
afternoon, the group, directed by
Rabbi Leo Y. Goldman, offers a
variety of cultural activities.
A congregational Hanukah sup-
per is presently being planned by
the Sisterhood, and will take
place Dec. 10. Games and enter-
tainment are to be featured,

Solomon Schecter Award. It was
one of three congregations in the
country recognized for this
achievement.
The Beth Aaron Sisterhood also

for its contributions and services
to the Jewish Theological Sem-

Entertainment, in the form of
a musicale, will be highlighted
by the appearance of Harvey'
Siegel, violinist with the 'De-
troit -Symphony Orchestra and
singer Mrs. Shoshana Friedman,
both accompanied by Bella Gold-
'berg at the piano.

Six delegates and alternates
will represent the Detroit Chap-
ter of Junior Hadassah at the
32nd annual convention of the
young women's Zionist organi-
zation, Nov. 23-27, at the Ritz-
Carlton Hotel, in Atlantic City.
The delegates are the Misses
Sarah Johnson, Lee Weiss, Dor-
othy . Gordon, Lillian Lubarsky,
Jean Leibowitz and Julia Sherr.
Miss. Johnson is in charge of the
delegation.
Over 500 delegates from the
United States will participate in
the series of plenary and work-
shop sessions, hear a number of
guest speakers and make plans
for the coming 'year.
One of the convention high-
lights will be the celebration . of
the 30th jubilee of Meier Shfey-
ah, the Israel children's village
sponsored by Junior Hadassah.
Prior to their departure, local
delegates will be honored by
chapter members at a brunch at
