Ahavas Achim Wins Schechter Award
For Program of Youth Activities

For Adult Institute

The Solomon Schechter pre and post-Bar Mitzvah , boys

gogue Adult Institute, jointly
sponsored by the five Conserva-
tive congregations of Detroit, it
was announced by Rabbi Morris
Adler, Institute chairman.
The extension of the registra-
tion period was in response to
numerous requests of people
previously unable to -come to the
Adas Shalom Synagogue where
all classes are held.
Communal leaders, business-
men, women active in the Jew-
ish organizational life of Detroit,
housewives, members of various
synagogues, and many who are
not affiliated with any Jewish
organization or institution have
enrolled in the various classes
conducted every Tuesday eve-
ning.
Many who wish to learn about
the forces and -developments in
the Jewish state, especially in
this time of mid-Eastern tension,
have registered for the special
course on "Israel—Laboratory of
Cultural Fusion."
. "Selected Readings from the
Bible," "Little Known Books of -
the Bible," and "Know Your
Prayerbook," special courses in
"Basic Judaism" and "Maimo-
nides—Physiciah to the Jewish
Soul" and a graded series of
classes in Hebrew reading, writ-
ing, and conversation are also
offered.
