Yeshivath Leaders Honor
Rabbi Wohlgelernter, Blochs

Members of the Yeshivath Beth
Yehudah, its board of directors,
teachers, members of the Syna-
gogue and Businessmen's Coun-
cils, this week joined , in offering
a double salute to two of its most
ardent leaders.

year-book to be distributed at
this year's annual dinner and
show on Nov. 20, at the Latin
Quarter.
Announcement' was made only
recently of .Rabbi Wohlgelern-
ter's request for a year's leave of
absence from the Yeshivah, ef-
fective - Feb. 1. The Yeshivah
pedagogue will leave then -for
Israel where . he will serve as
chief assistant to the Chief Rabbis
of Israel. Hi_s: office will be in
Jerusalem.
Before his departure, Rabbi
Wohlgelernter will be honored
at numerous functions for the
important contributions he has
made during his 18 years in De-
troit in the upbuilding of the
Yeshivah as an all-day Torah
center.
Mr. Bloch, along with Mrs.
Bloch, are receiving the plaudits
of Yeshivah leaders on the oc-
casion of the Bar Mitzvah of their
third son, Stuart Marshall Bloch,
at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at
the Yeshivath Beth Yehudah,
Dexter at Cortland.
The Bloch's eldest son, Harry,
was a student in the Yeshivah
Day School for four years, while
Ivan Sol Bloch, their second son,
was prepared for study at the
Northwest branch, at Northwest
Israel Synagogue.
- Stuart, although never attend-
ing the Yeshivah building, was
taught by Beth Yehudah Schools
tutors for an equivalent period of
time. All three boys will have
been Bar Mitzvah at the Yeshi-
vah synagogue.
Mr. Bloch has served the Yeshi-
vah previously as co-treasurer of
the new Daniel A. Laven Bldg.,
dedicated by the Schools this
spring. Hey is presently a member
of the Yeshivah Executive Com-
mittee and was chairman of the
1953 benefit dinner and show
sponsored by t h e Yeshivah's
Businessmen's a n d Synagogue

Featured along with Mr. Peerce
will be the popular comedian
Harry Hershfield, quick-witted
raconteur of . radio and television
fame. Mickey Woolf and his or-
chestra will play music through
the dinner and supply back-
ground music for the guest

Irwin I. Cohn is the publisher
of the yearbook which will be
distributed at the dinner pro-
gram. The boOk is dedicated to
Mr. Cohn's late associate, Mr. Saul
Sloan, and will contain numerous.
statements on the progress of the
Yeshivah in. Detroit as well as
tributes to its leaders.
Mr. Peerce made his debut at
the Metropolitan Opera in 1941,
after his talent was recognized
by none other than the great
Maestro Arturo Toscanini. He has
performed regularl3r at the Met
since that time, and has been
much in derriand as a radio and
television performer and for na-
tion-wide a n d world-wide re-
citals.
A jack-of-all-trades in the gen-
eral field of humor, Harry Hersh-
field has written for Hollywood
*motion pictures, is the author of
several books on humor and has
appeared on radio and televisioh's
popular program, "Can You Top
This." It is said, he has introduced
more celebrities at more impor-
tant functions than any other
toastmaster in the U. S.
