Offer UN 'Program

in Review" will be presented as
the opening program of the sea-
son by the Sisterhood of Cong.
Shaarey. Zedek on Monday after-
noon, in the synagogue.
According to Mrs. Baer 'Keidan,
Siterhood president, the meet-
ing will open with a dessert
luncheon at 12:30 p.m.
Four foreign exchange stu-
dents will express their Views on
the UN. They are Sorroto, from
Indonesia, Rafat Shafi from In-
dia, Baruch Glazer from Israel
and Nicos Economu of Greece.
Mrs. Joseph Jackier and Mrs.
Arthur Robbins, co-program
chairmen, are planning the after-
noon's activity.

Donor Luncheon Rally

Mrs. Irving Chaiken, president
of the Beth Aaron Sisterhood,
announces that the final donor
luncheon rally will be held this
Monday at the synagogue.
Mrs. Albert Kaplan, program
chairman, has arranged rally en-
tertainment that will include four
of the Wayne University. Dance
Workshop performers in a group
of serious and humorous dances.
Cantor J. Goldring will also offer
a group of musical selectionS.
The Dan Frohman Quartet will
highlight the donor luncheon,
which will be held on Dec. 6 at
the Beth Aaron :Synagoglie,* ac-

Mumford
High

The most thrilling game played
On Mumford's football field was
the University of Detroit High
School Cubs vs. • the Mumford
Mustangs. There was not a va-
cant seat in the stands last Fri-
day, due to the fact that with the
winning of this game and the
defeat of Western High, Mumford
would become West Side Cham-
pions. A smashing victory over
U. of D. was made by the Mus-
tangs at 7-6, - with the touchdowns
made by halfback, Sid Levine.
However, Western g a in ed the
title due to their record of six
Wins and one loss to Mumford's
record of five wins, one loss and
one tie. This is Mumford's third
year with - varsity :football and
they have already made -a *name
for themselves of which every
Mumfordite can be proud. Con-
gratulations to a wonderful team.

Climaxing a fabulous football
season will be our annual Foot-
ball Dance this year, tailed., the
Touchdown-- Tromp to-be- held-- in-
the school gymnasium tonight,
sponsored ¶y the Sportsmanship
Council.
The George Gershwin BBG will
hold its annual installation
Dec. 3 at Elmwood Casino. New
officers are: -Barbara Krakow,
president; Lois Salainger, and
Faye Schrage, vice - presidents;
Susie Herman and Emily Guns*-
berg, secretaries; Lois K 1 e i n,
treasurer; Sandy Schrut, re-
porter.
An open-house was held at
Mumford, Wednesday, for all
parents interested in seeing the
school and speaking with their
children's teachers. Refreshments
were served afterwards and Stu-
dent Council members directed
touring. They were appointed by
Maida Granoff, chairman of the
Student Council organizations
committee.

Medical School Founders
Joined by Five Detroiters

Max and Philip Stollman and
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Brody, of
Detroit, have become Founders of
the Albert Einstein College of
Medicine of Yeshiva University,
the nation's newest medical
school, it was reportdd by Natha-
niel L. Goldstein, national cam-
paign chairman.
These Founderships were an-
nounced at the dedication cere-
monies of the College of Medi-
cine, formally establishing Amer-
ica's first medical school under
Jewish auspices.
The Detroiters join 170 Found-
ers who each have contributed
$25,000 or more to the College
building fund program.

Monarchs, Teen-Age Club,
Schedules Nov. 23 Dance

The Monarchs, a Jewish Com-
munity Center Teen club, will
hold an open dance, the - Monarch
Ball, at 8 p.m., Nov. 23, at the
Esther Berman auditorium, 18977

clude entertainment, dancing,
music by the Counts and refresh-

Orthodox Group Slates
Workshop for Hanukah

At a double ring ceremony sol-
emnized at Beth Joseph Syna-
gogue on Oct. 18, Davida Sue,
daughter of Mr. and. Mrs. Louis
A. Smolka, of Mendota Ave., be-
came the bride of Nathan Barris,
son of Mrs. Rose Barris, of Wood-
ingham Dr., and the late Mr.
Samuel Barris. Rabbi Morris
Adler and Cantor Jacob Sorienk-
lar officiated.

For her bridal attire, the new
Mrs. Barris wore a white - dress
of imported chantilly lace and
tulle. The fitted lace bodice was
accented by a portrait neckline
with folds of tulle at the neckline
and long fitted sleeves. A pleated
border on the flowing skirt of
tulle was outlined in matching
lace. Four tiers of fingertip silk
illusion were attached to a regal
beaded crown. She carried white
orchids on a Bible.

Attending the bride were
Muriel Herman, maid-of honor,
Elaine Russky, Joyce Leachman
and Phyllis Zohatt as brides-
Maids. Leo Barris was his
brother's best man. Ushers were
Mannie Stein, Eric Langer, Har-
vey Lipski, Merle Hoffman, cou-
sin of the bride, Robert Barris,
Lawrence - Kushner and Ronald
Barris, nephews of the bride-
groom.

Following the wedding cere-
mony a dinner was held at the
Rainbow Terrace. After an ex-
tended trip through the east the
young couple will reside on Dex-
ter Blvd.

Shaarey Zedek Juniors
Hold Tamarack Institute

A program of creative Jewish
living is planned for 40 members
of the Junior Congregation of
Cong. Shaarey Zedek who this
weekend are at Camp Tamarack
to hold services, discussions and
an oneg shabbat.

The Junior Congregation will
meet at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday in
the synagogue, to organize a de-
bating team. Theodore Baruch
will be advisor.
Planning events fbr the juniors
are Margie Wein-garden, Ruthan
Chaenko, Margie Shuman, Estelle
Ring, Z e n a Wax, Marianne
Greenbaufn and Kalil Rosenberg,
members of the education and
cultural committee.

Mrs. David Dombey, president,
announces that the first Hanukah
workshop of the Women's
Branch, Detroit Chapter of the
Union of Orthodox Jewish Con-
gregations, will be held at 8:30
p.m., Nov. 28, at Young Israel
Center.
Workshop sessions will include
demonstrations of traditional Ha-
nukah decorations by Mrs. Albert
A. Schwartz, a display of holiday
cakes, salads and gifts and a
social hour.
Open to all women in the com-
munity, there will be ' a small
charge to defray material ex-
penses, states Mrs. Irving Wy-
man, general chairman. Assisting
her will be representatives from
Congregations Bnai David, Mogen
Abraham, Beth Abraham, Gemi-
luth Chassodim, Northwest Israel,
Young Israel of Detroit and
Young Israel of Oak-Woods.

Dingell Adheres to
Pro-Israel Policies

John D. Dingell, Jr., who re-
ceived the Democratic nomina-
tion for Congress at Tuesday's
15th District Primary election,
stated again that he adheres to
the same pro-Israel policies that
were followed by his father.
Dingell, like his late father,
has cooperated in Jewish Na-
tional Fund activities and sup-
ports a program of aid to Israel
by the United States.
Dingell will be opposed at the
special Dec. 13 election by Thom-
as E. Brennan, the Republican
nominee.
