Be Sure to Vote on Nov. 8
Important decisions are to be reached in the 15th
Congressional District next Tuesday.
Candidates are to be nominated for a e Congressional
post left vacant by the death of the distinguished Congress-
man of that District, John D. Dingell.
It is urgent that the best candidate should be nominated
—and that is possible only if . all eligible voters cast their
ballots on that date.
This is a call to all voters in the 15th District: BE SURE
TO VOTE NEXT TUESDAY.
Frances Solovich
Woman Candidate
Conducts Dynamic
Campaign Here
One of the most interesting
campaigns in the present political
battle to fill the vacancy caused
by the death of Congressman
John Dingell is being conducted
by a woman.
Frances (Mrs. Charles) Solo-
vich is the heroine. She is a prac-
ticing attorney, a 'national Bnai
Brith leader, mother of two chil-
dren.
Without sacrificing law prac-
tice, home, husband and children,
she has conducted a dynamic
drive for votes. She makes a fine
impression at all meetings she
addresses, she invariably emerges
as the ablest orator at all the
gatherings and politicians are
watching her with keen interest.
Her husband is confident:
Frances will be a Congress-
woman some day.

Rev. Hill Supports
Israel's World Position
Rev. Ch6xles A. :Hill, Demo-
cratic candidate for U. S. Con-
gress in the 15th District in
Tuesday's primary election, this
week aired .the following mes-
sage on Israel:
"As a teacher of the Bible I
cannot understand how any
minister, priest or rabbi could
not favor Israel's existence." .
Quoting passages from the Bible,
Rev. Hill spoke of the promises
made by the Lord in granting
the land to the people of Israel.
"Of course, I go beyond the
position on the side of the Lord
in stating firmly that the U. S.,
having helped Israel come into
being, has at least a moral ob-
ligation to shield it from destruc-
tion," Rev. Hill added.
If elected, Rev. Hill promised
to vote for economic aid for Israel
to enable her to maintain econ-
omic stability.

Addressing Rex Lodge of Bnai

Gregory M. Pillon, Republican
candidate for the special Primary
election in the 15th Congressional
District, on Tuesday, made a
stand for a stronger Israel.
Pillon said he favored a block-
ade on arms shipments from the
Communist countries to the Arab'
lands, forming an economic
blockade of the Arab countries
and supplying free lend-lease
arms to aid Israel.
Pillon also advocates repeal of
the McCarran-Walter Act and
support for a national FEPC law.
A CORRECTION
There was an error in last
week's Commentary in The Jew-
ish News. In his reference to
the double-headed Russian Eagle,
the Commentator stated correct-
ly that one head looked towards
Constantinople ( Istanb uhl) . In
his reference to the other head,
looking toward St. Petersburg,
he should have said that it is the
present Leningrad. The present
'Stalingrad is the old Czaritsyn.
Then shall ye return, and dis-
cern between the righteous and
the wicked, between him that
serveth God and him that serv-
eth him not. —Mal. 3:18
