The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Ernest
Sell, of 4022 Leslie. Mr. Ran-
dolph, a Detroiter; is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest - Meyer
Schwarz, of New York. Cantor
Jacob Sonenklar also officiated
at the rites.
The bride chose a pearl-shaded
gown of Italian silk taffeta, with
fitted bodice accented with a por-
trait neckline and short sleeves,
appliqued'with Alencon lace and
tiny pearls.
The bouffant skirt, with motifs
of matching lace on the hips and
cascading halfway down the
skirt, fell into a cathedral train.
A four-tiered veil of silk illusion
fell from a tiny crown of the
lace embroidered in pearls. She
carried a bouquet of small or-
chids, stephanotis and English
ivy.
The bridegroom's sister, Mrs.
Walter Rowe, of New York, was
matron of honor, and bridesmaids
were Mrs. Milton Barnett, Sharon
Niskar and Ruth Levitt.
The bridegroom asked his
father to be his best man, while
serving as ushers were Albert
Katzman, Arthur Kaufman, John
Nielan, Irving Haberman and
Jerome Fine.
Following a dinner and recep-
tion, the young couple flew to
New York where they embarked
for a honeymoon in Europe. They
will take up residence in Detroit
on their return.
The first two seminars of the
Women's Division of the Jewish
Welfare Federation's annual Blue
Book Seminar Series will be held
Friday morning and afternoon,
Nov. 4, at the
Esther Berman
Building, under
the direction of
Morris Zelditch,
New York.

Zelditch is director of social
planning for the Council of Jew-
ish' Federations and Welfare
Funds where his work concerns
study and planning for social
services in American and Cana-
dian Jewish communities. In
"Seminars One and Two called
"New Directions in Social Wel-
fare in the United States" he
will cover trends in social wel-
fare, relationship between serv-
ices in the general community
and those in the Jewish commu-
nity, the relationship of those
programs to federal programs,
and unmet needs in social wel-
fare.

Ahavas Achim Youth Group
will hold its- first oneg shabbat
at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, in the
synagogue. -Under the chairman-
ship of Marjorie Schwartzberg,
sabbath games and songs are
planned.
Janet Waserman, president, an-
nounces that the Harvest Hop
will be held at 7:30 p.m., Tues-
day, in the synagogue social hall.
Richard Snyder is social chair-
man, and Martin Lipson, refresh-
ment chairman, is in charge of
hosts and hostesses.
Special guests will be members
of the Youth Group of Pontiac's
Cong. Bnai Israel. All young peo-
ple in the community are invited
to attend. Dress is informal.
Yeshivath Beth Yehudah PTA
will hold its annual movie night
on Nov. 15 at the Dexter Theater
when two, Technicolor movies,
"The Student Prince" and "To-
night We Sing" will be screened.
The affair enables the PTA
membership to carry out its pro-
gram of extra-cufricular activity,
which includes improvement of
playground facilities, replenish-
ing of kitchen supplies and re-
stocking the school library.

Van Vliet of the seminar sub-
committee assisted Mrs. Lakoff
and Mrs. Linden in planning the
session.
The third Seminar, "New Di-
rections in Social Welfare in Is-
rael," will be held Nov. ,18 with
a presentation by Ernest Stock,
consultant on overseas studies to
the Council of Jewish Federa-
tions and Welfare Funds.
"New Directions in Social Wel-
fare at Home" is the course title
of the fourth seminar, to be held
Dec. 2 with a presentation by
William Avrunin, associate direc-
tor, Jewish Welfare Federation of
Detroit.
All sessions will be held at the
Esther Berman Building of the
United Hebrew Schools, Schaefer
at 7-Mile.
Group Formed Here
To Aid Sanatorium
Detroit Chapter of Deborah has
recently been formed here to
work in support of the Deborah
Sanatorium at Brown Mills, N.J.,
a hospital for •patients with lung
cancer, tuberculosis and children
with rheumatic fever.
The new group joins 120 other
chapters throughout the country
in supporting this institution. Ex-
pressly for people on whom long
illnesses would be a financial bur-
den, the institution is nationally
recognized.
Although in its 35th year, the
sanatorium was unknown to most
Detroiters until_one of the organ-
izers was aided by the group.
Officers of the group are Doris
Greene, acting president; Rosa-
lind L-eWine, vice-president; An-
nette Konheim, Jean Gothelf and
Florence Goldstein, secretaries;
Toba Rothschild, treasurer; Molly
Furst, trustee, and Sylvia Klein-
smith, membership.
A barn dance is planned as
the organization's first affair. It
will be held at 8:30 p.m. Nov. 20,
at Graemer's Barn, 11 Mile and
Inkster.
A meeting is scheduled for
Tuesday, at the home of Jean
Gothelf, 22040 Ridgedale, Oak
Park. Interested women are
