dent, will conduct the meeting in
the absence of Mrs. Oliver Ruby,
president, who is attending the
13th biennial convention
of World ORT at the Waldorf
`Astoria, New York.
Mrs. Milton Okun, program
chairman, will introduce • the
speaker, and an ORT educational
report will be given by Mrs. B.
Benedict Glazer.
Also attehdihg the three-day
New York parley with Mr. Ruby
are Mrs. Joseph Fenton, educa-
tion chairman, and Mrs. Max
Beal, Northwest Chapter resi-
dent.
Expects 3,500 Delegates
At- Hadassah's Convention
More than 3,500 delegates and
guests, representing- Hadassah's
300,000 members in 1,200 groups
throughout the United States,
Puerto Rico and Alaska, will at-
tend the 41•t annual convention
of Hadassah, Women's Zionist
Organization of America, which
opens at the Morrison Hotel in
Chicago on Oct. 30.
High on the agenda will also
be the formulation of Hadassah's
programs in Israel and in the
United States for the coming
year. Hadassah annually ex-
pends $9,000,000 for its medical,
social welfare, youth rehabilita-
tion, vocational education and
land reclamation programs in Is-
rael, and for the stimulation of -a
dynamic Jewish life in the United
States through a broad program
of Jewish education.
World Jewish Congress Submits
Proposals on Human Rights to UN
NEW YORK, (JTA) — Rec-
ommendations to advance the
drafting of international cove-
nants on human rights were
submitted to the 10th regular
session of the United Nations
General Assembly by the World
Jewish Congress.

annual convention of the Israel
Explorers Society has conclud-
ed at Tiv'on, near here.
More than 1,000 amateur and
professional archaeologists at-
tended the sessions and visited
the site of diggings at Hatzor, in
Galilee, which are being carried
out under the direction of Dr.
Yigal Yadin, who also presided
at the convention.
Among the speakers was Is-
rael President Itzhak Ben Zvi,
who lectured on the history of
the Druze. Shmarya Gutman,
an amateur archaeologist, lec-
tured on his finds at Massada
where he found the remains of
a Jewish group which fled the
Romans after Bar Kochba's re-
bellion, nearly 2,000 years ago,
and were besieged in mountain
fastness by Roman legionaires.
Dr. Yadin, reporting on the Hat-
zor diggings, said that they con-
firmed that Hatzor was, in its
time, one of the most important
Middle East cities, with a popu-
lation of 40,000 to 50,000.
Detroit Councilettes' Meeting to Honor UN

cilettes of the National Council
of Jewish Women Sunday, at
Beth Aaron Synagogue.
Included in the meeting will
