Conservative Adult Institute to Begin Nov. 1, at Adas Shalom The fourth annual Synagogue Adult Institute, a co-operative educational venture sponsored by the five Conservative congrega- tions of Detroit, will open Nov. 1, announces Rabbi Morris Adler, chairman. Among the courses to be taught at Adas Shalom Synagogue are a graded series of classes in Hebrew reading, writing and conversa- tion. Specialized classes will be given by rabbis of the participat- ing synagogues. New courses offered this year include "The World of the Rab- bis," taught by Rabbi Adler; "Israel — Laboratory of Cultural Fusion," by Rabbi Milton Arm; "Jewish Poets of the Middle Ages," Rabbi Jacob Chinitz; "Se- lected Readings from the Bible," Rabbi Benjamin H. Gorrelick; "Basic Judaism," Rabbi Moses Lehrman, and "Mishneh Torah," Rabbi Jacob E. Segal. In addition to the rabbis, other faculty personnel will be Mrs. Harold J. Goodman, Joseph Hag- gai and Alex Roberg. Joseph Edel- man will serve as Institute regis- trar. Registration for the 20 Tues- day evening sessions may be made at any of the five participating synagogues, and will be con- ducted at 7:30 p.m., the night of the first scheduled session. In addition to academic work, the Institute also sponSors monthly social get-togethers and special programs. Registration is open to the entire community.
