Local Congress Council
Praises Late Rep. Dingell $100 Luncheon

One of many resolutions adopt-
ed by local organizations in trib-
ute to the late John D. Dingell,
15th District Michigan Repre-
sentative to the United States
Congress, was that passed at the
recent meeting of the Michigan
Council, American Jewish Con-
gress.
The text of the message sent
to Rep. Dingell's family by Dr.
Leon Fram, president of the
Council, states:
"The Michigan Council of the
American Jewish Congress
wishes to convey to you and your
family its deep regret at the news
of the untimely passing of your
beloved husband, Rep. John D.
Dingell.
"Congressman Dingell's inspir-
ing leadership in promoting the
cause of the common man will
long be remembered. We are es-
pecially mindful of his untiring
zeal on behalf of . Israel and his
espousal of liberal and humane
principles in'the field of immi-
gration."

The appointment of Rabbi
JOEL S. GEFFEN as director
of the newly organized Metro-
politan council of the United
Synagogue of America was an-
nounced by Victor J. Herwitz,
Council president.
