Ground in Southfield

Over 300 people were .in at-
tendance at the recent ground-
breaking ceremonies held by
Cong. Briai David at the site of
its future synagbgue, on South-
field Rd. near 9 1'2 Mile Rd., in
Southfield Township.
GoV. Philip A.• -Hart, rep-
resenting Gov. Williams, • greeted
the congregation oh "this impor-
tant step" and wished officers
and -members well in their :un-
dertakings.
Participating in the program,
which was under the chairman-
ship of Morris . W. Zack, build-
ing -campaign director, were
Charles N. Shere, congregational
president; Harry C. Friedberg,
vice-president; Julius Rotenberg,
Jack Lieberman, Isadore Gruskin,
Joe Gorman, Louis M. Zack, Mor-
ris Brandwine and Louis Please.
Rabbi Hayim Donin also ad-
dressed the group, and Cantor

New York, another brother of
Mrs. Buchman.
In addition to his wife, Linda,
a leader in the Jewish National
Fund, Mr. Buchman is survived
by two daughters, Mrs. William
Polincky and Mrs. John A. Mintz,
and five grandchildren.

Women's Division of the Amer-
ican Jewish Congress swing into
action on Wednesday; each will
open the season with a different
program.
A millinery fashion show in a
garden setting is planned by
Northwest Chapter. D e s s e r t
luncheon at 12:30 p.m. will be
served to members and guests in
the home of Mrs. Jack Udow,

fashion show by a local firm, a
millinery gift certificate will be
awarded.
