The High Commissioner re- ported that the overall problem in Europe concerned some 300,- 000 unsettled refugees. In par- Fresh and Smoked Meats ticular there were large numbers of refugees still in camps—"those Gratiot Central Market ghastly places which everyone should see." The camp population at the present time was Germany 27,000, Austria 36,000, Italy, in- cluding Trieste, 4,800 and Greece 2,500 making a total of 71,500.
