There have been cases where the delay in causing the patient to be taken to a more distant hos- pital proved fatal." Rabbi Opher also called atten- tion to the fact that the present Illinois Statute does not outlaw discrimination based on race, creed or color in cases of emer- gencies caused by illness. Above Livernois Chicago Asked to Prohibit Discrimination in Hospitals CHICAGO, (JTA) — The Chi- cago City CoUncil was asked by the American Jewish Congress to pass a pending ordinance to pro- hibit discriminatory admission_ practices of hospitals here. The pending ordinance amends the City Code governing hospitals and prohibits bias by hospitals in the admission or equality of care of the use of the hospital's facili- ties to any person because of race; creed, color, national origin or ancestry.
