The President's New Year Message Asks Renewed Efforts for Peace WASHINGTON, (JTA)—President Dwight D. Eisen- hower extended the following greetings to the Jews of America, through the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, on the occasion of Rosh Hashanah: "On the occasion of the Jewish New Year, I extend greetings to all Americans of the Jewish faith. "I hope that your observance will renew in each of you a devotion to the cause of peace and a determination to help advance the welfare of your fellow men in accord- ance with the ancient spiritual and moral teachings of your religion. To people of every persuasion these teachings are a continuing guide in the search for justice and good will among nations and a better life for men, women and children everywhere in the President Eisenhower world. Hoke Levin Head Vocational Agenc STUTTGART, (JTA) — The State of Baden-Wuerttemberg and the municipality of Hechin- gen, formerly a Hohenzollern en- clave in this area, have restored the Jewish cemetery of Hechin- gen, which goes back more than two centuries. The beautiful mountainside graveyard, which the Nazis had desecrated, was given over to the custody of the Baden-Wuert- temberg Jewish Community in a solemn ceremony held in con- junction with Hechingen's 700th anniversary. At the same time, a tablet commemorating the 22 Hechingen Jewish victims of Nazism was unveiled. Plans are under way, it was learned at the same time, to restore the an- cient Jewish cemetery at Loer- rach, on the Swiss border, which dates from 1670.
