Program for the Year

Committees of the Detroit
Council of Pioneer Women - met
throughout the summer to plan
activities for the coming season.
Foremost on the agenda will
be the 30th Year Jubilee Lunch-
eon, set for Oct. 19, at Masonic
Temple, under the chairmanship
of Mrs. Harry Kay. Mrs. Harold
Noveck is program chairman.
The national convention of Pi-
oneer Women, to be held in Tor-
onto this year, Oct. 23 to 26, will
have a large delegation of De-
troit members, who presently are
planning their participation.

NEW YORK, (JTA) — Gover-
nor Theodore R. McKeldin of
Maryland and Solicitor General
Simon Sobeloff and their wives
sailed for Israel as guests of the
CIO and Histadrut. As trustees
of the Philip Murray Memorial
Foundation, they will participate
in the dedication of the Philip
Murray Cultural Center of His-
tadrut at Elath.

In a double-ring ceremony
Aug. 28, at Holiday Manor, Ger-
trude Nedelman, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Harry Nedelman, of
Elmhurst Ave., was united in
marriage to Joseph Herbert
Grossman, son of Dr. and Mrs.
Harry Grossman. Rabbi Leon
Fram and Cantor Robert S. Tul-
man officated.
The bride's candlelight ivory
gown of imported rose pointe
lace was highlighted by a skirt
composed of layer upon layer of
accordion pleated tulle. Her cap
was of matching lace and held in
place a shoulder length veil. She
carried white orchids and- stepha-
notis pinned to a white Bible.
Attending the new Mrs. Gross-
man were Bernice Nedelman, the
bride's' twin sister, as maid of
honor and Mrs. Joseph Bale, cou-
sin of the bride, as matron of
honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs.
Santon Becker, Harriet Weizen,
Joan Meister and Zella Gross-
man. Deni Bale served as her
cousin's junior bridesmaid.
The bridegroom was assisted
by his brother, Dr. Sam Gross-
man, as best man, and ushers in-
cluded Larry Nedelman, Daniel
Grossman, Ed Silberstein and
Herman Goldsmith. Ronald Bale
was junior usher.
Following dinner and a recep-
tion, the couple left for a honey-
moon in Northern Michigan,
after which they will take up
residence in Redford Township.
Out-of-town guests attending
the wedding were from Colum-
bus, Ohio and Pittsburgh, Penn-
sylvania.

Recently singled out as the Vol-
unteer of the Week by Central
Volunteer Bureau and Sinai Hos-
pital, Mrs. Harry Barnett, 660
Whitmore Road, has now re-

Active in volunteer work for
over 20 years, Mrs. Barnett has
served both the United Founda-
tions and the Allied Jewish Cam-
paign as leader and solicitor.
