United Hebrew Schools Start Fall
Enrollment in All Its Branches

Enrollment for the fall semes-
ter is now taking place in all
branches of the United Hebrew
Schools. Classes for beginners
will start Sept. 19. Immediate
registration is urged so that the
best arrangements can be made
for the children.
During the past five years,
there has been a steady growth
in the enrollment in the United
Hebrew Schools, best facilities
and adequate teaching staff are
limited and parents who have
registered their children late
have been forced to wait a half
a year or more before being able
to enroll their children. It is
urged, therefore, that parents
register their children promptly,
before the opening of school.
The United Hebrew Schools',
newest branch is at Beth Abra-
ham Synagogue, 7 Mile and
Greenlawn.
The regulations of synagogues
require a minimum of four years'
training in a Hebrew School as
a prerequisite for Bar Mitzvah.
Children who have now reached
the ages of 8 and 9 should be
enrolled in order to meet these
regulations. Bar Mitzvah prepara-
tion is a regular part of the He-
brew Schools' course for which
there are no extra fees.
Special classes for girls are
offered in most branches of the
United Hebrew Schools in addi-
tion to regular classes which are
open to both boys and girls. These
classes are designed especially to
prepare the girls for Jewish liv-
ing in the home.
The United Hebrew Schools
branch in Oak Park is conducting
classes in the Oak Park High
School, Coolidge and Oak Park
Boulevard. Children from the
Linwood-Joy Road area are now
attending classes in the Rose Sit-
tig Cohen Building, to which
they are brought by UHS buses.
-Registration also is taking place
for the Sholem Aleichem School,
now an affiliate of the United
Hebrew Schools. Transportation
is provided by the UHS transpor-
tation fleet.
Enrollment also is taking place
for the Nursery School Branch,
Schaefer and 7-Mile. Enrollment
in this branch is limited to 50
children, who parents are urged
to register early. This nursery
school is accredited by the State
of Michigan. Transportation is
available. Children 3 to 4 1/2 are
eligible.
